[0874] Weapon Steady-ing...

Post by goguapsy »

First off, I really didn't know what keywords to look for, so here I go:

If you fire a gun, the steady-up time will not increase. Actually, it will keep decreasing as if you hadn't shot...

What I mean is, if you get a gun and start shooting the 1337 out of the guy on the other side of the map, after the steady-up time (like, 6 secs) your shots will be darn accurate.

This is true with the LMG (found that out on my local training server). Go prone (in deployed mode) and aim down the scope as soon as you can and start shooting at someplace. At first, the bullets will all scatter all over the scope. But don't stop firing yet... After 5 secs you can take out any sniper.

I don't know if this happens with every weapon, but it IS true to the LMG (not true to the sniper I believe).

IMO, this ain't realistic. If someone starts shooting, specially an auto-firing weapon, they WILL suffer from recoil and will NOT be able to hold the aim precisely...

Imagine you are shooting a SAW, like, what, 500 rounds/min? Can you really, after 5 secs of continuous fire, shoot eXTREMELY accurately? Don't think so.

What I mean to say is, this would also stop with the LMG pwnage, as he can simply drop to the ground and start shooting everything up that you won't be able to return fire at all... And 5 secs later he can snipe everyone with 6 shots in the same bloody place!

Another thing, does "suppressing" lower your accuracy as well?

And one last thing... I know that with 1.5 and v0.9 you guys are gonna make going prone in CQB almost like a suicide. Is it possible to do that like, a very common tactic is to crouch, wait steady-up time, stand up, shoot, crouch, stand, shoot, crouch... because accuracy doesn't suffer from it at all? IRL if someone was holding still he would deffinitively be more precise than a guy changing stances...

Is it possible to reset steady-up times to a more realistic method?
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Before you jump to conclusions, no, this does not occur on any weapon but the LMG. The reason for that is that when you deploy the MG you set it up on a bipod thus reducing most of the recoil in the gun.

Exactly.

Firstly, guns don't get more or less accurate unless they overheat and their barrels morph or another factor affecting the gun itself occurs.

Instead, the accuracy (or deviation) is made to compensate for the lack of weapon sway, ballistics, and the soldier's ability to stabilize his gun after running or perfoming some action.

Think, if you fire a deployed LMG on Bipods, will it be affecting the ballistics, weapon sway or the gun's stability? Not really. The only thing that could be affected is the recoil, which wouldn't be the muzzle climbing type of recoil, but rather the recoil that shakes the weapon's sights or the player slightly.

Thankfully the new firing animation based recoil on these LMGs should do the trick, and be the proper incentive for more burst concentrated fire.

That you be exactly what I mean. It should shake, but more, or atleast the deviation should increase if on auto-fire, which it DOES NOT. I can post a video if needed.

But yeah, v.9 will get it fixed.

I just wasn't aware of that video.

Though I have a tendency to disagree with this (which tecnically speaking doesn't make sense, IMO) i've never fired an auto-weapon.

Well, guess we're done here.

Just to satisfy your curiosity: the rate of fire doesn't really have an impact on the recoild. It's the force of the gas expanding towards your shoulder and moving and forcing THE USER to move the gun up or down. If the weapon is on stable footing (like a bipod placed on the ground firmly) you can start firing off instantly and then start correcting the line of fire.
Generally the weight of the recoil mechanism (ie. the bolt carrier) operation contributes a lot more to recoil than the force of the round itself firing. The gas is siphoned off and redirected backwards to force the operation of the weapon. In something like an M249, this is what contributes most of the recoil.

http://www.failsafetechnologies.com/ima ... onFULL.jpg that's the gas piston extension and bolt carrier, the bolt sits on top of that. It is the action of this not insubstantial weight of metal flying backwards and forwards about 10cm or though every time the weapon fires that makes up nearly all of the recoil. As far as I'm aware in almost all 5.56mm weapons the overwhelming majority of the weapon's recoil comes from things other than the round and the expansion of the gasses directly from firing the round.

Mutrah City , Mosq a saw usa gunner is on top shooting enemys from 50 to 80 meters he killed about 20 of them no joke. After i found a safe position were i can surprice him and shoot him i pulled the G3 trigger and missed , he looked at me while crouched then he proned and recrouched and shot me and killed me.

I think all LMGs especialy the m249 need rebalance.

especially on Insurgency.. if an insurgent gets hold of a SAW... Americans, run away!
