Hey, nice to see you found your way here, I need your opinion on something:
1) How do you feel about the PLA HAT?
2) Would you support a change to make it so that the PLA HAT takes 15 seconds to pull out, but a short time of, say, 5 seconds to steady?
3a) And how about making it so that the 2 HAT kits (only for the PLA faction) reallocate in 5 minutes, rather than 10?
3b) Do you think that any other HAT kits should be altered (in the opposite direction, perhaps) in this manner?
Personally, I think that the PLA HAT is good, but that it becomes impractical to use, partly this is because the PLA only encounters enemy tanks on Quinling 64, as far as I know, where there is an abundance of air-assets or friendly tanks to help take them out. I think that by making the kit more focused on quickly setting up, firing, and getting back out, it could be used as more of a hit-and-run style AT rather than a sophisticated platform like the Eyrx or SRAW, which is best used at long ranges and guided into the target.
No, this isn't a suggestion. I'm not sure if I even like the idea, and want to see how the community thinks. If I decide that it seems to be accepted and supported, I may suggest it. Until then, I'm just looking to know what people think, or maybe even if they have any experience they'd like to share about the kit.

Re: [Opinion Topic] Faction AT balance through non-physical means
I actually like how it is now, with the fast deploy time but no guidance.
Though it would be interesting for the MEC/US+GB to get a bit more different. Though I'm not sure how do that. Best way would be to get the javelin in to the mix but with a huge spawntime etc to replace one HAT on the blufor side, but that could be overpowering, and I'm not even sure if thats possible with teh current coding?
But in leu of that, we'd have to look at the physical attributes of each weapon to decide differences.

I could very well be wrong, but from what I know the PLA HAT takes a 15 second deploy time and has the same deviation settings as the Eryx/SRAW.Dr2B Rudd wrote:I actually like how it is now, with the fast deploy time but no guidance.
I used it last night, but I may have lost track of the time from hitting the button and it being ready, though I think it's 15 second deploy.

I don't know the actual values, but its defiantely a faster HAT but no guidance, by that I mean when you shoot it doens't follow ur mouse, whereas the eyrx and SRAW doI used it last night, but I may have lost track of the time from hitting the button and it being ready, though I think it's 15 second deploy.

Huh. Didn't notice. Probably because I was too busy worrying about the scimitar about to come kill everything in my vicinity to count the times. Silly me.
I think that it could use just a bit more of a boost, perhaps taking a third off of the settle time to match? It's not too practical to use at long range moving targets, so only stationary targets at long range are possible to hit; even close range it sometimes is hard to hit the vehicle.
With SRAW/Eyrx, it's possible to guide the missile into a speeding jeep at 500m, with just a little luck and a bit of experience, but it's not nearly as easy to hit a moving target at 100m with this HAT without a lot of experience as to how far ahead you will need to aim to hit.
Maybe it'll just take some getting used to... I'll need to spend some time messing about with it and see.

The Predator is a fire-and-forget weapon utilizing a pre-launch system that measures target speed and direction and is used in conjunction with known missile flight performance to predict where the target will be when the missile is in a position to intercept. The missile also uses an inertial guidance unit that the weapon over the predicted intercept point, compensating for crosswind and launcher motion (the launcher may be mounted on or fired from a vehicle. For direct attacks the missile acts as an unguided, flattened trajectory, line-of-sight weapon.(The FGM-172 SRAW (Short-Range Assault Weapon) also known as the Predator SRAW), so why do we have to sit there like fools waiting for the tank/apc to kill us if its fire and forget? from what i understand, it has 2 modes, point and shoot and fire and forget, but at the same time time, seen lots of vids of javelins on liveleak in the US's most 2 recent wars, not so many of FGM-172's
in fact another quote "As of 2005, all FGM-172A missiles supplied to the USMC have been retrofitted with the FGM-172B multi-purpose blast warhead to replace the top-attack anti-armor warhead.[4] All new production of the missile will be in the FGM-172B configuration. This is to better meet the needs of the USMC in short-range urban combat." top down was the anti tank version,multi-purpose blast is like it says for urban warfare, ie blowing up a entrenched sniper or such. So really sraw as a hat kit is really wrong.
i wanna see more of this, think it would make great gameplay LiveLeak.com - British Troops Fire Javelin
get some
or this LiveLeak.com - British soldiers fire several Javelin missiles on to Insurgent positions in Basra, Iraq. 2007
