Re: Remove the stamina meter?
I know we need a que or something to say to you hey your out of sprint or about to be. But just saying having something like a heavy breathing sound would be annoying after hearing it 1000000 times, that's just me.

Re: Remove the stamina meter?
The stamina bar is there to let you know how tired you are(obviously). If we removed that, we wouldnt know. Now you suggested motion blur and other effects, but those would sometimes come as a suprise, and they dont irl. Im a very experienced runner, I know how much stamina I have left all the time, you know from experience and youll quickly learn how to read your bodysigns. Fact is, removing the stamina bar, you would lose control of knowing when you get tired, and thats NOT realistic. Also, sitting behind the screen and a heavier breathing starts, and getts heavier. IRL, you dont listen to your breath as the only sign of being tired, and that breath would be the only tool we have to know about our stamina, not realistic either. Like any other aspect of a game of this sort, you find a balance of realism and gameplay, realism thats fun. You cant do stuff to simulate tired muscles, a smokers lunges etc etc, I think that the solution they have now, is perfect. Simple, doesnt destroy gameplay, has realistic effects(heavy breathing) and that should be it.

Re: Remove the stamina meter?
If it´s possible, i would love to have increased breathing ,blur and deviation as you use more of your sprint.
Also.. I´m gettin pretty tired of peeps mixing walk, run and sprint up
So to clear things up..

I think the devs are on point.

Kustjägare (Sverige) - Wikipedia
The PR Run
Ingame you can run (jogg) 2km in around 12min (10km/h. Navy Seal requirements equals 12km/h but they do it in trousers and boots).
Consider all things that would effect your running ability in reality.
Things like running uphill, downhill and running through forests or in deep sand.
All this while wearing your weapon, ammo, bodyarmour, boots and other gear, then 10km/h isn´t that bad.
One of Swedens top trained units, Kustjägarna test soldiers on a 6.5km run, crosscountry wearing fullgear (20kg). They have to finish in less than 40min (average speed is 9.75km/h). They also have to run a 4.5km obstacle course in less then 42min (average speed 6.4km/h).
Throwing yourself on the ground, get up running some more and then throwing yourself to the ground again will make you go tired very quickly.
In general doing things that takes muscular strenght like full sprinting until you totaly gas out will also effect your jogging pace.
The PR Sprint
Ingame you can sprint 100m in around 20 sec (18km/h)witch imo is ok, again considering things that would effect that time irl. Total sprint time is around 20 sec. (This is changed to 30sec in PR 0.85)
Sprint reload time is 1min and 40sec but personally i don´t think 1 minute 40sec wait is much after sprinting a 100 meters in 20sec, then doing it again... In 20 sec. (This is also going to be changed to 1min 20sec in 0.85)
The only thing that should be changed is jumping.
Getting deadtired after 2-3 jumps is not realistic. But then again it´s not realistic to be able to jump that high either. We cant animate climbing over obstacles..so.
I understand why the devs put it in the game but i never have and never will use tactical jumping around techniques (bunnyhopping)
(Btw i´m above 30 and run more than 2700m in 12min. Very Good according to Mr Cooper)

Re: Remove the stamina meter?
I think the stamina meter needs to stay, as somebody pointed out earlier, it lets us know what we'd know innately in real life. And it's simple, requiring an absolute minimum of suspension of disbelief.
I do however agree with what solid knight said, that sprint should be uncapped to prevent unrealistic slowing to a jog when under fire. Perhaps we could have it so that running when past the current limit causes damage to your body, the longer you go for the worse the damage is etc, up until the point of being wounded (blacking out) and needing a medic for revive.
We could have it so that:
1 - The extra sprint will hurt you (but don't need a medic) as soon as you cross the safe limit
2 - Wounded but need a medic after 2 seconds
3 - Grey wounded (coughing etc) after 4 seconds (i.e. need a medic urgently)
4 - And blacked out after 6 seconds and needing a revive.
Or something like that, perhaps a little longer would be fine.
What do you all think?

Re: Remove the stamina meter?
i do think that the amount of stamina lost for a jump should be lowered to just one bar

Re: Remove the stamina meter?
I was playing some FarCry 2 last night, and I was taking note of the Sprint system they have. After a few seconds of sprinting, you start to get a little bit of blur and darkness around the edges of your screen, and it builds up untill you can hardly keep sprinting and the the entire screen is a little darker.
its basically like the Current wounded system, but with black and blur instead of red and blood splattered.

Re: Remove the stamina meter?
guys this is becoming outragous. I know theres a realism factor but removing the stamina bar is a step back. Go for a 200m not stop sprint and see if you can tell when your able to do it again or if you just gotta guess.
Also the jump could be lowered but just slightly. Its there to prevent bunning hopping then sprinting for cover. Hell if you havnt noticed people in this game jump about 4 feet into the air.

Re: Remove the stamina meter?
Hey
Um plz don't i mean there a thing with making it super realistic but i think the soldier knows what's his stamina at, it's not a bs thing to have at the players disposal...
i like to know if i can cross the street with out being a sitting duck
Think about it, You'll realize that if you run around fallujah while sprinting you won't cross the road with out suing sprint even if it mean you wait to get to the wounded
Plus have you ever gone running once? You know when to stop right? What do soldiers not have that ability? It's not like you just stop because u literally ran out of stamina... you can literally feel ur energy drane sometimes if u run hard enough. I do 1k runs and stuff i think any one whos been trought phys ed could say somethign close enough
