Keep velocity, keep tapping on the S key to try and keep a steady and nice descent on landings, flare up a bit.

When at low speeds your helo is twitchy as hell, watch out.

I use a joystick which is much easier for me, im not good with keyboard.
try land on flat ground though as a hill is always hard to land on.

The rule is to always hover above uneven ground. Grunts can jump quite a distance to jump in.

that not very helpful TBH XD

just join a training server and practice your landings there just don't hold the S key down too long or you will stall and plummet to the ground when you see your Landing Zone (LZ) Flare not as in your countermeasures but bring the nose up a tad not so much as to make you go backwards :S but enough to slow you do this in conjunction with letting the power go and or tap the S key a bit to bring you down and the rest should come naturally.

Some people could fly excellently in Vanilla but cannot in PR so they just dont bother, but if you stick at it you should eventually be able to fly well.

he hasn't been flying long enough for hovering XD

get your landings on the ground nailed then worry about hovering you can always make another thread or PM any one on the PR Pilot recommendation thread To question about the hover:

That's just my opinion.

make sure the ground is flat as possible, and TAP S to slow down and lower do not hold S down...... also keyboard and mouse FTW with choppers.

For good practice land on really uneven ground and practice taking off, after enough practice and can really land on any ground and take off without any problem.

You could try it with your wasd and arrow keys, I find it grants me far more control than mice.

Otherwise it's just practice practice practice.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

You don't have to buy joystick, mouse and keyboard will work fine as well otherwise read this tutorial :)

Without smooth throttle control you're going to be average skilled pilot at best. How exactly are you going to steadily hover at 18% of power 2 m above the ground so your team can get out? Pressing "W" repeatedly?

If you just leave the controls you just kinda float down and it takes a while to hit the floor. For what you need to hover for, it is easy.

Cant really tell someone to buy a joystick. Its really a matter of personal preference. While I fly jets with a joystick, I am far more comfortable flying choppers with mouse and keyboard and i can fly them *especially hueys* very well.

For faster drops, hit S, though you risk tipping the chopper if you try dropping like that too far. Tapping s several times however is a very stable way of landing.

Landing on uneven surfaces if you really must touch the ground whne your landed hold s down to keep the chopper on the ground and from flipping or moving, just on take off you will have to be careful and orient the chopper appropriatly.

Try to land whilst going forwards, sort of like you landing a plane.
keep going down and then at the last moment pull up so you touch the ground gently and without the risk of going left or right and eventually crash.
These sort of landings work great for the hueys and the littlebirds but the others work good to.
Just keep practising.

Every one has their own style and it works for them.

This is what works for me. If you know the map a little and you know where you wanna be and you are not to far off then let go of the throttle, tip the nose forward and float in at a good speed. Then when you are close to where you wanna be then bring the nose up above your horizontal line, to break your speed, and tap the "S" key till you are almost at where you wanna land, until you landed. Remember, your chopper/s has skids or wheels. So you don't have to land vertically. You can slide in. I slide in myself as there is a lot happening around me and there is no time to land vertically as you will get shot to bits.

Hope that this might help a bit.

Tapping W works fine once you get the jist of it, joy sticks are great IMO i just don't use it for the chopper I just CBA to practice with it you can hover more or less perfectly with out on TBH.

When I do this, my passangers never jump out the sh!t bags :-P
they always expect you to land no matter what the terrain is.

and those are the same idiots that tell the pilot to take them somewhere and conviently forget to tell you that the area is very hot and then blame you when everyone including the chopper dies.

I leaned on the wasd and arrow keys. then moved to mouse one I got the hang of it. For me at least the keyboard gives you more stability as you wont twitch or have a mouse freak out on you. but at the same time, you dont have as much control but for learning I feel like it was good :)
