Knives and Shock Paddles / Epipens. A thought and question.
I've been reminiscing about all the old BF games. Just reinstalling BF:V now to get a little jungle warfare into my soul and I went to GameFAQs like I often to do read what people say / think about the different games. I usually find stuff like that interesting when I am rather bored. Anyway I was reading the gamespot guide to BF2 and I noted something in the medic kit description. I shall quote that now.
"A full charge from the defibrillators will generally kill an enemy, even if he's at full health, but of course you have to be right on top of them before you can use them. If you can sneak up behind an enemy, though, the serverwide notice that they got killed by shock paddles is likely to generate a few chuckles."
And as I remembered back to all those knife fights and shock paddle battles with Stabby. (Old friend of mine.) I had a thought. Everyone here knows that knifing in BF2 is competition to see whose puff of smoke registers first. Has anyone ever had that go on with the epipen or shock paddles of BF2? Epipen's always seem to kill / revive as long as its timed right unlike the knife.
So my thought and question is. Whats your experiences? Am I the only person that thinks they should have used the defibrillators hit detection on BF2 knifes? Literally on BF2 it was easier to kill with shock paddles then knifes. What do you all recall?

Back in .85 our squad got ambushed in the high grass in Asad khal. I was crawling to revive my SL, however I didn't see a British guy's legs on him. So a mil-second after I hit the pin I realized that there was an enemy on the body. However I was totally shocked and surprised that the pin hit the Brit and killed him. It took me like 3 seconds to for me to realized what I just pulled of lol. Sadly the devs lowered the pin damage lol. Anyway I don't think the paddies have better reg, go around youtube and look for knifing fights, and you will see people using the shock paddies. The hit reg on them is terrible. A lot of times in VBF2, I would have to shock a guy twice before he would be revived.

Did you know that if somebody flatlines in real life and you shock them you would end up killing them.

no, you MIGHT kill them. Same as getting electrocuted from the wall, you might die. You might die instantly or you might die couple hours later, so if you get electrocuted, go to hospital so they can check you heart. Including getting tazered, feels as good and as dangerous.Solid Knight wrote:Did you know that if somebody flatlines in real life and you shock them you would end up killing them.

I thought their damage was lowered so they can't kill, well would take a long while.

Yes, the epipens have had thier damage lowered so they're not used to kill.

The Defib's were easier to kill with in vBF2 because they have a longer range than the knife, not because of a better hit reg.Cheesygoodness wrote:Am I the only person that thinks they should have used the defibrillators hit detection on BF2 knifes? What are defibrilators used for in real life then?Solid Knight wrote:Did you know that if somebody flatlines in real life and you shock them you would end up killing them.

All I recall on the Epipens is making a Epipens only sneaking sqaud with Gazz and getting 20 kills. I love Mestia for this

Shocks in BF2 have almost perfect reg, you just have to aim for the torso not the legs or head. The knife on the other hand is a lot worse if you're both moving fast in a proper knife fight, but for sneaking up it's normally fine.
In PR though the time to pull out the knife just makes it a bit too risky sometimes, unless the target is in the middle of aiming, or afk.

Thats the experience I always had right there. I know they did have a slightly longer range then the knife though. Although it seems not a lot of people had the same.Masterbake wrote:Shocks in BF2 have almost perfect reg, you just have to aim for the torso not the legs or head. I could never get used to the paddles, knives always worked better, if not always for me.

Defibrillators are used to stop an erradic heart beat, ie Cardiac arrest.Sgt.Smeg wrote: What are defibrilators used for in real life then?![]()
When someone 'flatlines', the heart which has completly stopped beating at all, usually an injection of epinephrine (adrenalin) is given.
In hospitals it ISN'T done through an Epipen though.
In fact, an Epipen is only used to stop Anaphylaxis. I got taught on how to use one for like 30 clams, well worth it too because you can be sued for using it without being liscenced.

Actually, I believe if a person flatlines totally they need to start CPR + Rescue breathing until a syringe of adrenaline is there to start the heart on a slow beat, THEN deliberate.
Source: My med class
Epipens are used to stop Alergic reactions were the person suddenly has breathing difficulties, the epipen is uncapped and stabbed in the patient's thigh and kept there for at least 10 seconds, after wards the area is supposed to be rubbed until more advanced medical attention has arrived.
So im not sure why the epipen is used in PR.
So why not give the medics syringes of adrenaline and shock paddles, of course doing it in the wrong order could possibly result in team killing.

And back on topic
Afaik all weapons in vBF2 uses the same hit-reg. The game is built up so that your equiped weapon/item fires a projectile a certain distance, causing an action if it hits a target. (killing/reviving) That is the same for knifes, defil's and all guns. The reason it might fell you hit more often with the defil, is that is has slightly longer range, plus the fact that 9/10 times you use it, you are trying to hit a target that isnt moving. (Dead guys) In knife fights on the other hand, you are both flying around, stabbing like madmen
And btw, that little extra range the defil has, is so not worth it when you look at how long time it takes to recharge.. (But i used to love humiliating campers with the defils

Just to clarify, Epipen currently does 10 damage (previously 100), thus making it very impractical for offensive purposes.
