[Help for Heroes] Charity single/album

Post by Gaz »

MORPHEUS RISING, a little known band with a growing following have released a single entitled An Ordinary Man, as well as an album in aid of the British Forces charity, Help for Heroes. One of the band members is a serving Staffie with 4MECH (same rank as our own [R-DEV]UK_Force), so have strong ties with the Army.

Preview with video

Here's the low-down from the band themselves;
With our connection to the British Army, it seemed appropriate to release this single in aid of the Help for Heroes organisation.

"Although there are certainly references to my experiences on operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans on some of the other tracks we have recorded, 'An Ordinary Man' is the first time I have consciously written a song about the subject. I have lost people I knew in Afghanistan, as have many of my friends, and I decided this was one way I could help those who return home and need medical help of some kind, and I suppose it helps me deal with the experiences myself. Powerful and emotional, 'An Ordinary Man' is definitely a departure from the material we normally write but I am immensely proud of it and feel it is one of the strongest tracks Pete and I have written. I hope everyone else likes it as much as we do, and that it raises a lot of money for this worthwhile cause." Graeme Tennick, vocalist for MORPHEUS RISING and a serving soldier in the British Army.

An Ordinary Man is available to download as individual tracks or you can download the 3 track CD Single at a discounted price.

All proceeds from the sale of this single (via download or mail) costs will be sent to the Help for Heroes charity.

For some more background, see the ARRSE forums.

HOW MUCH?

£0.99 for 'An Ordinary Man', the headline song, or £1.99 for the 3 song mini-album. I can personally vouch for the full album being 3 quality songs.

HOW DO I GET THIS?

You need to follow this link, create an account (takes 20 seconds), and follow the prompts on the site. Or, you cvan click the banner at the top of the post to take you to the same location.

My personal note:
Having taken part in a few fundraisers for HoH, I am a serious supporter of this charity, and what it stands for. The money raised goes to those soldiers who need support whether physcially or mentally, and that gets my vote.

Having bought and downloaded the album option, the songs are excellent. The other tunes on their site (with the built in mp3 player, sound great. Especially the faster paced ones. The actual headline song strikes cords to those who have served or are due to serve on Ops around the world. It is a worthwhile reason to spend a few pounds for something decent. Payment system is through paypal, so the usual applies.

Gentlemen, PRREEEEEEE SENNNTT.............credit card.

sounds like the music from EoD :)

love it, and the charity too

in fact iGi ran a xmas raffle for our clan members using our quarterly server contributions to give a clan contribution to help for heroes to help them in their fantastic work.

This gets my approval 110%

moved to general discussion, seeing as it's related to the real world side of the main point of the mod (British Forces) :)

Welcome to the forums, spkr4thdd. Just took me 6 months to see this....I will be purchasing the other releases. I've spotted via emails coming from the site that MR are going commercial. About time ;)

@superhunty: search ;)

Gaz, thanks!

(Sorry it's taken me so long to get back on here, it's been manic!)

Yes, we're going commercial! But not selling out ;) The single Fighting Man,which we're doing for H4H and the Poppy Appeal this year, will be released on 2nd Nov on ALL online music stores (and I mean all!) including mobile sites, tv sites, magazine sites, you name it! We're also releasing a supporting video which may even be getting some MTV/Kerrang! airplay (if they like it!).

It will be available on pre-release within the next few days and we're hoping it will chart this year. (All we need is forums like this and ARRSE to spread the word... 2-3,000 sales should do it!) All sales during the pre-reelase period will count to the first week of sales so, as it's being released on Mon 2nd Nov, we're really hoping that we can chart on Remembrance Day!

I'll keep you informed of how it's going :)

A slightly sensationalised write up in the Daily Star today (page 26), which also demotes me!

But a half page in a daily can't be bad for publicity can it?

Things are going well so far, and we hope you can all help spread the word!

We're now a step closer to runing a physical CD single release, we should be able to confirm sometime today. It's looking like a limited edition release, but don't worry, we'll let you know as soon as we can!

You can pre-order the download now by texting 'track 4067' to 83262.
