PSU top or bottom

What is it to prefer? Will you get issues with the cable length if you have the PSU on the bottom to connect something on the top 3.5"?

How is it with the temp? I consider having the PSU on the bottom, that will have the heatspread to other components further away than having it on top where it's closer to the motherboard.

depends on the case size, the ATX size and general cable length.

I had a huge problem with my older PSU in my new V9 case, not even the main 24pin power supply to the board was long enough going from the bottom of the case.

but with the new power supply pushing air out of the base of the case (raised and vented below the PSU) I have little to no heat in my case...then again the Thermaltake V9 moves more air than a truck on the highway, some form of super fan on the front pushing in while an even faster fan on the back is moving out COLD air, along with the 180mm top fan sucking like a cheap hooker.

I think the bottom is better. My case is a metal mesh, i can see through it with the lights off. So it can vent out a lot of hot air where the PSU would be normally be blowing that air back down onto the components.

As long as your hardware supports it, i would recommend bottom mounted.

PSU fans take the air inside the case and exhaust it out the back.

i have my psu on the bottom, antec 900, no other way to do that


i think it doesnt matter that much, BUT if you have components that create a lot of heat i'd put it on the bottom though. warm air rises up in the case, and you wouldnt want your PSU to cool itself with warm air. so better keep it on the bottom.

I have the same case bought it as a replacment never had bottom mounted befor. Looks tider, easier to hide exces cables under the HDD bays at the bottom of the case then having to tie them up above the DVD drive at the top. I also think it gives better airflow then a load of hot air getting trapped at the top of the case. the antec 900 has a top and rear mounted fan all around the cpu cooler my CPU runs a little cooler in the new case with bottom mounted PSU.
