Mumble Crash on Connect

I have had so many recent incidents where I wish I could use Mumble, but cant due to it crashing ("Mumble has incountered an Error and needs to close") after pressing Connect.

Im running Windows Media Center XP SP2, (and I checked out that QWave), I have reinstalled at least 5 times, tried different versions and cant figure out a solution

Specs:
CPU: AMD 3200+ 2.01 ghz
RAM: 2 gb
GPU: 9800 GTX+
OS: as stated, Media center SP2 XP
USB Platronics DSP 500 headphones, no sound card.

anything else I should Add?

mumble version 0.5beta says compiled June 30 2009

I downloaded 9b9b5e and while it dosnt crash quite so quickly, but never connects ti the PR server, and when I try to connect to any other server, it crashes after the SSL certification message like before.

does anyone reckon it be possible to run Mumble on a laptop that isnt playing PR? I cant see anyway of getting positional audio, but maybe it could force center everyone?

Bad idea, you will hear everybody and if you talk everybody will hear you.

well, I wont have a mic hooked up to the laptop, and hearing everyone is better than hearing nothing, right?
