Wouldn't the best practice for your aim be to just play the game? ;)

I think its a good idea, especially for British maps so I can pretend its 'back at Aldergrove with the L98' :) lol

I think that the OP logic is valid, not sure if it will ever be implemented. There are other maps with the paper targets on them, Koselsk and Ramiel for sure. Perhaps you could find a spot where you could have a longer look at the targets on one of those maps.

One step farther from that, it'd be great to get those targets made of a penetrable materiel with a respawning explosive barrel behind them for hit confirmation. At variable ranges and groupings would be even better.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Maybe it might be an idea to make a "vehicle" carboard person, and its hitpoints are set up like a human is, headshot kills it, body makes it heavily smoke & limbs make it lightly smoke. Possible to implement?

there was a thread on this a couple days ago. the main thing i would suggest would be targets that can fall down when hit

But then they would eventually run out... respawning tarfets maybe?

In the US Army we use automated targets on some ranges that provide "instant feedback". Basically, if we shoot and hit the target it goes down. It can come right back up on it's own when needed.

All this is controlled by computers and special software, or by a person in the range tower.

For aircrafts etc I think we need a training area since they are high value assets that you don't want people to crash in a real game, shooting your rifle is something most people are able to do from the first time they load up the game so I think the best way to become better at aiming is to just play the game.

But I support the idea for a training area were you can train different infantry tactics like flanking etc but a range just for shooting is a waste of time imo.

Oh and this is a resuggestion.

would be nice to have a training grounds for armor like Twentyninepalms with a cardboard silhouette that is actually a vehicle and when it gets hit it respawns in like 1 minute or so, with ranges from 500-1000meters. It would be a good way to practice side shooting (driving at full speed shooting to the left or right) for APC's and maybe tanks.

Re-re-re-resuggestion. ;)

Check the *** thread: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f18-pr ... s-***.html

You'll find it listed there as already in game. While not in game just the way you've suggested it, this has been suggested several times before, and I believe there's a map like this in the works somewhere. If you have a snoop around I'm sure you can find it.

As for this thread, it's locked. ;)
