Missing –> snow maps.
Yes, I’ve read the threads on snow maps that were introduced to the forums before (I’m thinking ‘Siberian Surise’, for instance).
A couple of problems seem to pop up with these kind of maps:
- To much texturing (both soldiers and vehicles)
- Plain white map = boring?
- Playing in a plain white map, being a plain white soldier = boring?
Now I had this idea, and feel free to break it down right after you read it, but don’t forget to mention why you dislike it
The thing is: a lot of players have been thinking about snow maps before, so why not try one out? I’m not thinking Antarctic landscapes, but I’m thinking semi-snow areas (eg: treetops covered in snow, grass areas opposing to snow areas, a bit of snow on the roofs,…) like a landscape right after winter, when the snow’s melting. Depending on the quantity of snow, this could make slight texture changes sufficient for realistic gameplay. ( as a matter of fact, texture changes might not even be nessecary (spelling?) if most of the snow was allready melted
We take another look at our three problems:
- Texturing: still a lot of work, if you're really planning to go for a true snow map, but little to no retexturing if you do a meltdown landscape.
- No plain white map, but a lot of variety instead = hell yeah!
- Playing in a non plain white map not being a plain white sold….. damn this sentence looks like sht… but y’all know what I mean
I agree, this project would probably take a lot of work and time, but if there are people willing to work on it, I think it’s realizable.
Please let me know what you think of it. I’m not in need of a snow map, but I think it might be pleasant to have one in PR, I'm just curious to hear your pro's and contras.
Greets,
Red Feniks
