Map: Interactive map
If you play Arma you know exactly what I'm talking about. A map which allows players to write markings or so. This may add a tactical advantage and allow for additional co-ordination, if it isn't hardcoded, that is. It would need to be basic so that players wouldn't fiddle around endlessly on the map. For example, 3 tools, 1 creates solid markers on the map, the other creates lines, and the last allows you to write information on. I would love the addition if it is possible. But that's the dreaded question, is it possible??
If you don't manage to kill an insurgent, don't go after him, he'll IED you.
If you don't manage to kill an insurgent, don't stay in the same place, he'll molotov you.

A few points. First, not possible on the bf2 engine. Second, the first thing I was taught was to never, and I mean never write anything on a map. If taken it gives away vital intel to the enemy. For that matter we were taught to fold the map in various ways so that uncreased sections wouldn't give away our AO. You have a map and a compass in PR and a magical waypoint marker. Shouldn't that be sufficient?

The only maps that I have even seen written on IRL are electronic which cannot be stolen by the enemy. Or dry easer ones where all written is destroyed after its been used.
IRL leaders will be briefed on the mission back in your CP with large maps and sand tables with writing on them. You'll make note of important grid cords and landmark codenames. So all important information is in your head. If you needed to brief your soldiers on the ground you'd make a model in the dirt and point out what is what and then destroy it when finished. This way if you are captured or your stuff is taken from your corpse all the enemy has is a whole bunch of grid cords and codenames. For the most part your mission will be so well rehearsed before hand it will be like going through a play book on a football team.
