The airborne noobs are our fault

Post by TF6049 »

It's true. The fact that so many people (including myself) want to fly, but can't, is the fault of the whole community. Why? Because unlike BF2 where the jet is just a jet, in PR the jet practically amounts to a finger or a toe - crash it, and everyone hates you for 20 minutes whereas vanilla BF2 everyone can have a go at it and more in a round. In a nutshell, prospective pilots don't have a realistic enough training scenario where other jets are also a threat, and on real servers can't get in enough training time (whereas in vanilla, you crash the jet, you wait a minute, boom you're on).

Training servers are simply inadequate for anything more than takeoff, ground attack, and landing. Qinling is all too rare, and on Kashan the MEC have no jets to fight with, meaning dogfights are simply not possible.

There are a few solutions however.
-A dedicated "PR Dogfight Training" server
-Switch from Kashan to Qinling on the bigger training servers (Battleforce I think is one)

in the next version of PR PRSP will be integrated, this will help ALOT imo.

if at the same time we can use the help tips thing (that we fucking hate :twisted :) when you first play Bf2 we can get the skill level of newer players up faster.

Sounds like a good solution, no costs, big benefit ;)

i see where your coming from, if the pilots crash (especially on muttrah!) they are immediatly hated, i like the idea, maybe have 1 for helos and 1 for jets or intergrate them aswell?

It's already there. Nobody is playing it though because the US aren't the 1337 faction anymore then.

PRSP will do leaps and bounds for prospective pilots, but there are still critical areas that you cannot replicate without other players.

For all the bots can do now, they don't laze. (And if they ARE lazing and I'm not seeing the lazes, they are incapable of communicating this location to the circling fighter)
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

if you got take out by AA or other jet that not make you bad pilot ,bad pilot is if you land and crash ,and not suport ground troops :)

The "Airbourne noobs" vary on where you play. I've played on servers (Not disclosing names) where the Admins are too ignorant to take care of the matter, If there is a admin at all, all the Air assets, whether it be transport, or attack are all down and specifically on Muttrah and Barracuda, USMC ends up swimming to shore. IMO, proper admin's would take care of this matter before it would ever come to mind.

Definitely need to see more quinling training. On kashan everyone just bombs the runways, its not that awesome, quinling might offer some actual air combat.

I think people generally just don't want to play Quinling training, they're not exactly forced to play Kashan instead.

You can mock dogfight to an extent with teammates, but I know it's not the same.

I think Kashan is already set up for training with Helis. But, as said before, there needs to be an OpFor airbase to give pilots the right training for combat . A map for just squads and tactics would be nice, too.

Close only counts with nukes and hand grenades.

TO Be honest.... only 2 maps have Jets atm, in .9 there will be more - but dog fights will still be rare. If the pilot supports ground troops and manages to take off with out crashing then they are liked.

Ever try getting off the ground in qinling? It just dosent happen. Baseraping/Spawnkilling is so prevelent on training gamemodes that its pathetic. As for the airbourne noobs, I think most of them need an attitude change. I can fly, but I CHOOSE NOT TO. I'll gladly give up a seat in the cockpit/drivers seat for someone more experienced. If more players would follow this attitude, vehicles in general would last longer and have more of an impact on the battlefield.

Training servers will not work for any kind of 'training'. Too many smacks, not enough admins to take care of things.

The bot pilots are SO RETARDED that its not even a challenge and you won't learn anything.

The airborne noobs are our fault
EXACTLY! how often we lose a round because of asset waste and having not enough infantry? in my eyes a lot.
maybe the admins have to be a little harder in the way to punish asset waste.

there are so much dumpasses do it vanille style they dont even know how to take of! that realy get me pissed and its become more often to see those guys using a public server as a trainings server so please everyone RTFM and then play 3-4 weeks as normal infantry you have to get this processes right.

if you feel good as infantry and you might wanne fly transport helicopter check THIS (working on an english update)

otherwise go on a trainingsserver / make local server and train with a friend(dog fight / one is quiet good for practise) / contact people to get training / get in communities...

there are a lot of things you can do to be better so dont tell me there are not enough ways to get the stuff trained. there is no trainingprogram thats a bit sad / and the developer dont get it to make some goood "how to's" in my eyes(guide is still offline) but those who waste all the assets wont even join this training/ read a guide.

the keyword is trainings/localserver a lot of practise and harsher penalty.

thats all i have to say

That's it. :) Even if I can fly OK I often know (if I dont know yet I will learn) that there are better pilots on the team, so I just let them take the lead.

Basically I watch others and practise until I think I have the same level, then I try it out in a real game. As soon as I fuck up really bad I step back for a while and practise a bit. That's a pretty good approach I think.
