This is taken from a post of another thread, I thought I'd make more note of it.

I'm not sure each soldier has a map standard-issue. I would assume leaders and such would have one so they could assess the situation and what-not. If this was possible, I would see it as being quite a big change and would have to go through public beta testing like the No Rally point beta change.

Maybe only to officers? Whatever, but I'm not sure if this would be breaking the boundary between reality and good gameplay.

It is possible to have map specific kits but this would mean that a bunch of new kits need to be coded. Not an overly big deal time wise but there are already 25+ kits for each faction in the 0.874 build. If more were to be added for every faction it would take up a significant amount of space i believe.

Not entirely sure, but isnt their an part of the editor where you can set kits for youre map?
im sure i have seen it somewhere.

Fun fact:
At the moment, PR 0.9 has 760 kits :o .

It's "kinda" possible. The thing is, python requires specific kits to be in their specific spots. This is how kit limiting works on the spawn menu. Change those kits without changing python, and you'll find yourself instantly dying upon spawn.

You can have different base kits for each faction, but for each map, it's not possible with the current code.

However, it is possible with the 0.9 integration of PRSP, since no kits are limited in coop game modes ;) .

As a related side note, 0.9 handles map's init.con's completely differently to previous versions, including the setup of kits for each map. It's centralized for each faction, because we do not set kits on a map by map basis, only per faction.

That isnt that much right?

You have the basic kit x the amount of factions.
Then also the limited kits x the amount of factions.
And some pickup kits.

Seeing that we get some extra factions..
Or am i missing something? :razz:

But still, im very sure this is possible.
They have done it in the FH2 Forgottenhonor tournament on custom maps.

Yeah, but that still wouldn't make it up to 760. I wanna know why there are so many!

there are so many, because there are speciall SP versions of the kits, parachute kits, nightops kits ...

I still amused that he thinks the Germans will be the only faction any where near being added when the Devs had already said Canadian IDF and Hamas :p

hmm, i ended up with ~200 kits, if desert and woodland counts as different, then i have 400, still almost twice below AM number :-(

Sooo all of you fail. He is suggesting that only certain kits get the map.

Guys, read this post again. He is suggesting that only certain kits have maps.

Don't forget that some kits will now have the choice between irons/sights or optics.

I'm not sure if that's what he's factoring in.

hmmmm i would think only the officer has a map but i think a person in real life has more orintation than on the game so i think there should be but for example only the following should have maps :
officer (would give a reason to be an officer on larger maps if no rally point test goes into next patch)
sniper/marksman (to find place to snipe etc.)
Spec rifleman (there spec man!)
Medic (for finding dead bodies and such)
Crewman (they drive they should have maps)
pilots (they fly they need maps)
Combat enigner( for placing mines etc.)

all Taliban as they know the land(or maybe a less detailed map like drawn)
