Supply drop from UAV
i was thinking since uav should be scouting ahead or supplying intel for troops on ground, why not give it 1 supply crate to drop with a parachute,, it would be difficult because you cant see directly below and would have to estimate when to drop it and would also provide incentive for a commander, however i think it should be universal ammo that both sides can use to simulate failed ammo drops where weapons fall into enemy hands,, any thoughts ?

any UAVs irl do this? guess not
there are also more than enough resources of ammo on battlefield, why you need drops from UAV? cuz its kewl?
overall- no, there is no need and realistic base(correct me if they do it irl) for it

A UAV is usually something like a model aeroplane. There's no way in hell it can resupply. It's purely recon.DankE_SPB wrote:any UAVs irl do this? guess not

Haven't heard of anything of the sort, although I suppose a Reaper could do some minor resupply given payload capability.

Yer but how many times IRL do you hear of them re-supplying troops? This is Project Reality, not what we want to be realityScared_420 wrote:uav predator can hold over 1000lbs of payload, id say thats suffecient for a resupply

Re: Supply drop from UAV
Within our lifetimes, UAVs will conduct resupply missions, definitely.
The technology for a small helicopter UAV that can transport supplies and soldiers is already in R&D (can't remember the name
??: ) but it will not be in service for several years, at least.
So, ask the DEVs about this when they make PR2.
But for now, let's stick to present-day technology.

ROFL, supply drop from UAV... considering that a supply crate is actually bigger than an UAV makes this idea kinda funny to imagine...
