Re: US ARMY CAMO CHANGE "IRL"
Indeed, a reliable source, which others can check whether it's correct or not, is a must.
I've been keeping an eye on the developments regarding ACU, Multicam and all that thing. AFAIK, the Army has send two units two different kind of camouflage. One with MultiCam, and another one with ACU Delta. (alongside the standard ACU's, IIRC) Source.
And I read somewhere (I'll see if I can get the source sometime) that it won't be until early 2010, until the U.S. Army makes a decision.

I'm pretty sure the 'nilla factions skins and models are EA owned and can't be edited anyway, hence why we still have pistol holsters etc. on standard infantrymen.

The DEV team do have currently serving US Army personel helping them out.
But I would be careful mate, if there are no publications you can offer to substantiate your statements, doesn't that mean you should be keeping it to yourself? (I mean since it might not meant to be public knowledge yet? best to use PMs to Eddie Baker if you are in doubt about whether you should publicly say stuff)

We all are aware there switching but PR's US Army isnt the Rangers or Spec Ops, there basic infantry. Once the Army publicly announces the switch for all units then PR skins I dont see changing.

Re: US ARMY CAMO CHANGE "IRL"
Alright,
Hopefully you guys will take me as a better source. The US Army has been order by congress to change its camouflage pattern. No official decision has been made, the Army is currently testing multiple types of camouflage patterns. Including Multicam, UCP Delta, and Mirage. A few units have deployed with these camo patterns to test them.
My source is myself along with some of the article already put forward. I'll see if I can't find the official memorandum and post it up here.

Well, ACUs are very bad, though, on Kashan. Seriously.

You aren't Ranger... because you don't want to be.LtSoucy wrote:We all are aware there switching but PR's US Army isnt the Rangers or Spec Ops, there basic infantry. Once the Army publicly announces the switch for all units then PR skins I dont see changing.
Is all about behavior - Rangers carry the same guns (M4s and M60s <- in this case, M249) as US Army.
Perhaps, though, can we make cammo pattern selectable? Oh just forget about it, just unrealistic. VERY unrealistic.
OH sorry for double post

Rangers do not carry the same stuff as regular army units. They different in many ways. First their missions come from SOCOM. They are all airborne qualified and are an elite fighting force, their training is some of the hardest in the military lots of people wash out. They carry M4a1s and M4s, M249 and M240s. Rangers are not your regular infantry units.goguapsy wrote:You aren't Ranger... because you don't want to be.

Re: US ARMY CAMO CHANGE "IRL"
Unfortunately, things you are hearing about the new uniform issue are just like what people hear about new weapons from that lame television show "Future Weapons" or what ever it's called.
Just because some wannabe or un-verifiable source says it's happening or going to happen, that doesn't always mean it will. Hell, even if the US Army says they will be changing their uniforms, NOTHING is guaranteed until the new item is actually issued and the NSN assigned.
Case in point, look back on the XM2001/2002 Crusader project. The weapon was developed and ready to go, we were even already training soldiers to operate the system. And then, shortly before it was to begin full-scale production and issue, the program was shot down by politicians. Other examples of military systems/programs that were "supposed" to be done but never were include the OICW, XM8, and a slew of other stuff ranging from basic uniform accessories to vehicles and weapons. So until it is actually issued and on the front lines other than for testing purposes, you never know if it will be issued or not.
This point being made, until the Multi-Cam pattern uniforms are in full issue to US Army soldiers, I see no point in changing the uniforms in PR. While I personally hate the ACU pattern and have worn MC several times and loved it, I don't want to see things added to PR that are not in issue or never will be. And over time, items that are in PR now that don't belong will be phased out as soon as new replacements are made.
@Loki - You say you've been in 9 years now, almost the time I got out. So I'm guessing you were in before they took away the BDU and gave out the ACU? I'm sure you know where I'm coming from with this. We've seen too much stuff that they bragged about over at Irwin, yet we never got to see it in our line units. Multi-cam might end up being another one of those "coulda, shoulda, woulda" items. The Land Warrior program in particular comes to mind...

Re: US ARMY CAMO CHANGE "IRL"
lol thats cause ACUs were designed for urban or rocky mountain combat, the colour scheme as you can tell revolves around greys for being around buildings and such. you guys need to try Aridcadpat, that stuff actually has a proper color scheme for the deserts.loki1120 wrote:The ACU's stick out like a sore thumb in game and in real life. i would hope it would matter as much as the 2 different paterns that they have for the Marine forces in the game.

Sooo what difference this gonna make? The multicam is only gonna be used by special forces and the rangers from which neither is on PR

You can't ask from the DEV's to start skinning a new camo scheme, which is based upon speculation. And it would hurt, because that means they can't skin more important things.loki1120 wrote:i know i know, but what would it hurt for the devs to start modeling/skining or what ever that programer stuff is that they do so well) the Multi Cam ??? Edit: Thermis, that Mirage camouflage, it looks pretty expensive to make, looking at the different materials used, and the heap of different colours that are in the camouflage pattern.

Re: US ARMY CAMO CHANGE "IRL"
i am / have been working on a multicam skin for the USMC models for vanilla bf2 for my own...enjoyment i guess you could say. they are still a work in progress but if the developers would like to pursue this i would be willing to work with them to ensure complete and total realism with the skin.
this might solve the personnel problem. the current devs would not have to add this to their list of things to do
