And finally if it does work well, I need some help making mine work.

Thanks

My friend happens to be a PS3 junkie and prefers a controller over a mouse/keyboard, this would be interesting to see if it is possible. I too have seen 360 controllers for certain PC games..

For helicopters mate, keyboard and mouse are good for infantry, decent for land vehicles, but suck at anything that flies.

How to Use a PS3 Controller on a PC
PS3 Controller For PC - The Older Gamers Forums

Apparently it is possible. Gonna try it out...

Edit - well the method on TOG didn't work for me.

Its Possible, Ive used both a Xbox360 controller, and PS3 controller, (usb) with a program called "Xpadder" Xpadder.com However it only really benefits those who prefer using vehicles ... As for Infantry Combat, PS3 and Xbox360 controllers, lack the reaction time that, a keyboard and mouse has.

Here is a Video Tutorial, if you are interested in Testing, Xpadder, for PS3 or Xbox controllers

PS3 Joypad works well for me (3rd party app, don't recall where I got it 'ps3sixaxis_en.exe), although I don't fly much, I was having fair success flying Huey's with it on training (just like GTA, but a bit more unforgiving). Pretty cool for driving too, with plenty of buttons for binds to BF2 controls and external VOIP apps (JoyToKey.exe), CO trucks and Hummers have analogue steering, who knew! Only drawback was I couldn't work out a way to bind the right analogue stick to my look around.

I'd love the PS3 stick for driving, 1/4 speed, 1/2 speed etc. Same with turning. Anything else = Mouse+KB > joystick.

Bah I hate people asking why you would like to use a controller over keyboard and mouse, some people just like to play with it.

I used Xpadder for my 360 controller and that worked good, its easy to set up. A lot of games comes with support for 360 controllers now but Xpadder is great for the older games that don't have any support for it (like bf2). You can even have different profiles in Xpadder so I could have different set ups for different games, I never had to change any controls in the game.

If you work alittle with the buttons and so on it works great ;) Though its hard to shift weapon though ;) Never tried it online I was just messing around with it.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

Could be a bit of fun. I'm pretty sure you could map it in the config files, you can in vBF2 I think.

Controllers are really good for stuff like NFS, but it would be hard in PR, especially with aiming etc.

mouse and keyboard owns for helis as well, but for planes its loses to a joystick. But still owns a controller in everyway.

well then some people fail, tell em to practice on mouse and keyboard and get better response time and more accuracy.

If you are going to use a controller i recomend this. its made for PC and comes with an installer etc. and I tried this a few weeks ago for helicopters and I found that mouse + keybord are much better thats just my opinion tho.

i asked him a question, a reasonable one . keyboard and mouse DOSE own the controller. maybe he should reconsider and get use to keyboard and mouse and have higher accuracy and speed? maybe hes not a big PC gamer and dosnt realize the speed and precision you can get out of a keyboard and mouse compared to a controller ? was a legit question, dont get your panties in a bunch.

how do you know he doesn't already know how to use a mouse and keyboard? is it fun to trivialize him into a console fanboy because he dares bring a controller into your sacred environment?

maybe he wants to play in his couch? maybe he wants to try it for vehicles? maybe he wants to try it for fun?

don't be such an elitist.
