Generally, try the home page of whatever military you're looking for/uses the bit of kit you're making. Or the home page of the weapon manufacturer. Colt for the M16 and so on.

EDIT: And [R-MOD]Bob_Marley for weapon pictures.

[Resource] Modeling references

Post by Z-trooper »

A few of the good old reference sites have died lately, but as I was searching for reference photos for a new weapon project I discovered an awesome site. Well 2 in fact.

This first one is nice high res close up shots of pretty much all details on a large selection of weapons. It seems that the site is more or less dedicated to weapons that has gone out of service.

Deactivated guns | world war 2 guns

Also I bumped into this here site:

B&T Technology GmbH - Montage Heckler Koch Sig Sauer IGB Glock Bruegger Thomet Brügger Schalldämpfer Schalldaempfer ABC NBC Bruhn Newtech Swissarms Transarms Leader Frankonia RWS Sellier Bellot Wechsellauf Wechsellaeufe Wechselläufe Munition Gewehr P

It has lots and lots of montages and equipment attachment stuff.. That way we can model the attachments much more accuratly instead of having to guesstimate all that much :)

I had a lot of good links on my old hdd before it died, sadly I cant post them now.

Although there are a few classics here mainly for vehicle blueprints:

The Blueprints - Reference Image Database - 24000+ blueprints online

and

www.suurland.com

It would be cool if we could make sort of an archive for modeling references here. If I get a lot of links I'll change this first post to a structured listing of links instead.

I have 2 different HMG ammo boxes from the us military. There's one that looks like a 50 cal box and one thta looks like it was just used to hold regular 556 ammo. If any one wants any specific angle pics for a ammo box just PM me.

If you can read Russian, or don't mind Google Translate:

Original link: ???????
Google Translate: Google Translate

Massive selection of blueprints for aircraft (planes and helicopters), very very high resolution and detailed. I think you'd be hard pressed to find better, though the image formats can be obscure (1 bit bitmaps etc.)
