PPSH-41 Magazine Capacity

I am curious as to whether or not the PPSH-41 35-round mags or the higher 71 round mags are more common and if the PR Dev's ever thought of using the lower capacity mags to make the gun more balanced. The PPSH now seems to easily overpower the
AK-74's in most maps because the majority of fighting is in woodland and the PPSH has a higher rate of fire and higher magazine capacity.

PPSh is made of win and quite possibly stamped sheet metal. It's like having a second LMG in the squad, but he can shoot and scoot with it.

Plus the kit comes with a grapple, whats not to love? Plus it puts rallies in trees!

I don't see how it over powered, It does have a very nasty tendency ride up and is a bit inaccurate. That in it self i think makes it inferior to the AK-74M, I mean yes it can be like having a LMG it does have a good rate of fire but if you can’t hit any thing wants the point.

It might do really good in close quarters I will give it that though.

I love the PPSH-41, although I rarely use it. So its a sort of rare treat. Whatever its advantages in short range, and it does beat assault rifle in cqc, it isn't any better at medium and long range combat (although you're not helpess either with it). Its high capacity mag is fun, and hardly overpowered, as most people can overcome any such minor disparities in game balance.

does anyone else remember that tactic being considered cheating? Despite the fact that whoever spawned on it broke their femur on the way down and required a medic (including the medic)... I wonder why that was.

Isn't it the same deal as putting it on a roof? Still wouldn't be able to see the rally there on Kozelsk.

Still can be overrun though, but thank god fall damage was nerfed, when I do it I usually put it just above the branch area to avoid alot of damage.

I really do not see how it's overpowered. An ironsights AK can effectively engage (i.e. wound and kill) at 200 or even 250 meters, and is also highly effective up close and personal. The PPSH has almost no long range killing power, and while it might be a killing machine close up, it's not like you can't set an AK to full auto and empty your mag right back at the guy. I don't think it needs a smaller mag, it's not good enough to be abused yet

Not overpowered, but is it really realistic that a modern-day militia would be able to use so many of them? Are there really that many left? I say we limit the weapon to the non-scoped officer kit and give the scout an AK.

About which magazine is the most common - I'm quite sure it's the drum magazine, judging from most info and pictures I have on the Red Army of WW2.

I dont think so, its like the mp5, at CQC they both pwns yes. but anything farther than a street block and your in serious trouble if you encounter an M4, G3 etc.

Isn't that the point of both the MP5 and PPSh-41? After all they are both SMGs, not supposed to be used for anything other than close combat.

According to a documentary I saw a while ago, the standard loadout was 1 drum mag, loaded with 2 box mags in reserve and extra ammunition available dependant on other factors.

The ppsh-41 is fine as it is. There are no problems going against them, as they are a purely cqc weapon in the same way a marksman is a long range weapon.

The PPSH is the most fun gun in PR. It's perfect the way it is and does not need any changing!
