I've been playing PR on this rig for a year and have never had this problem before.
Now when i play sometimes the buildings(destroyable only) becomes, weapons and clothes becomes black. Like the textures didn't load correctly.
After a while this fixes itself but i get CTD whenever there is a mapchange.
I have:
Intel C2D @ 3.1ghz
4gb 1200htz ram
Radeon 4870
Windows Vista 32bit
I'm thinking it has to do something with memory since i get the error message "out of memory" But it worked before and i have a 8gb cache file and no heavy duty memory program running at the same time.
I remember something about deleting tempfiles in bf2 folder to clear memory but don't know where to look

Re: Problems with CTD
If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Still no joy?
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
Set the textures to medium.
I'm not sure why this makes a difference with high-end cards that can run games like Crysis
on high quality settings with no problem at the same res,
but for some reason it can matter in Project Reality.

Im pretty sure bf2 cleaner works on vista, if not right click bf2 cleaner / properties / compatibility / Then run this program in compatibility for Windows, choose XP out of the drop down box.

Yea It works. I'm running Vista 64 and it runs fine. Try Mad-Mikes suggestion. Check for updates?
