I'd rather read the wiki, since info tends to be more recent, but alas.

Don't think there was a manual when I started playing. I've never read one since I don't think, just absorbed the gradual changes.

I don't think there was a manual when I started playing PR.
But if someone said "Why bother, i´ll just ask you. Besides, why would you need to read a damn manual to play a game?" to me I'd explain that they'll soon understand why it has a manual, and that it's annoying being asked a hundred questions when the answers are all documented.

Re: Reading the Manual,who did?
It seems that there are three main groups of people when it comes to the manual:
1: Did read the manual, someone even before they got to try the game.
2: Fast learners, people who learn trough obervation and "trial and error"
3: Those who startet playing before there was a manual
All of these 3 groups represent a significant number of players worldwide and i also asume that most of these players are the kind of players you would want in your squad, either as a SL or SM.
I think its nice to see that so manny actually did take the time to at least read some of the manual.
Although the manual doesnt make the player,it will most sertanly help seeing that knowledge is key

Re: Reading the Manual,who did?
I read the manual, but more as a curiosa - and after i tried out the new release. There's no way to remember it all anyway, so the only way to really learn is through trial and error.

Re: Reading the Manual,who did?
I DID read the manual, but not after playing for a week or so. The manual is indeed very good and helped me understand all the small things. However I recommend new players to:
1) Read or have at least a look at the manual
2) Test around at a training server
3) Join the real thing, "watch and learn"
I have unfortunately seen some players beeing really rude to new players. READ THE MANUAL is a normal respons when questions are beeing asked and It is not going to help the community grow

Re: Reading the Manual,who did?
I often take a cursory glance at game manuals but don't read them indepth as they're usually nothing more than a print screen of the controls layout.
For PR, I read the manual word for word with every major release.

Nope, I was young and foolish when I first started, I just loaded up, asked n00b questions, but I was lucky enough for people to be nice to me.

Re: Reading the Manual,who did?
I did not read the manual simply because there was no manual with the very first releases IIRC.
If there was one there were not enough changes from vanilla to require one.
I think I'll go and read it now though.

Re: Reading the Manual,who did?
I remember when i download PR .5..I was too excited to read the manual, but when I got ingame, and was wondering what all this kit stuff was about when I was trying to get in an APC,I just quit, and read the manual lol..The manual cleared everything up for me,and after about 10mins. at the most of skimming through it,I was ready to move in,and start pwning lol..And well,I've been a PR addict since.

One thing I did was read the manual. After that I go to play insurgency as Iraqi Insurgent (Fallujah). I ask '' how do you get lmited kits as insurgents?" (that's something I didn't understand form the manual). Answers: GO READ DA M4NU4LZZZ!!

Re: Reading the Manual,who did?
Read it during download
Printed it then tried out every kit on training server
The manual stayed next to me a long time for things like how many wires/HMGs near FOB.
But now so much info on YT and here, the deviation tutorial on YT were perhaps the most useful thing I have looked at yet.
Oh yeah tried to read up about the UAV nefore trying it out, but alas not much in the manual about recharge time etc, (so tried it out on TG - perhaps not the best place).
