I read the manual, all 38 pages of it and I found that it is really helpful. For one, the FOB's and in-game structures are not in vBF2, so you need to familiarize yourself with those. Also, it helps to know that you need a crewman kit to drive APC's and such, otherwise I think I would've blown up a few APC's and Tanks and pissed off a bunch of people.

Also, I am not new to Mods, and I know that at best, Mods might have some in-game instructions that tell you how to do something, but at worst, you're left to figure out how everything works. So the fact that PR had a manual, I just ate it up like a Fat Kid eating cake. I loved that it has a professional looking, well organized and well written manual. As I continue to play it, I am constantly going back to it to read up on something. Also, as a lot of helpful members have pointed out, Video Tutorials are awesome! I mean, you can only learn to be the Medic by being the medic and/or watching someone be the medic, but if you didn't know how to do it, would you know what to use the Defibrillator for? Hahaha.

I suggest everyone RTFM!

when i was about to play i scanned threw the manual but i guess i missed the part where the helis take time to warm up. So anyway i got into a lb on a Chinese map and i tried to take of right away not knowing it would, so when it got destroyed the other players let the flamez rip XD

It's custom for me to check the game manual incase there MIGHT be something that i haven't met at the other games.
After checking the content page of the manual, ended up reading the whole thing before booted up the game.

Maybe there could be a function, like when you first join a forum and you have to click the "I read the rules" button before you can post, maybe you have to read the manual and pass a quiz before you can install PR on your PC?

I read the manual while downloading the levels portion because after watching videos of youtube on this game I realized it was too different to just wing it, because we aren't all geniuses that instantly understand a game.

Ghost1800 wrote:manual? Back then it was basically something like

- No more hit/kill indicators
- Couple new maps and equipment to play with (and oh boy how they did)
- Everything more deadly/accurate
- Slight load out changes (MP5Ns for AT Whoooo!!!)
- Stamina changes

that was about it as far as I recall (and even that was spread out over the 2 or 3 first versions I played). shortly after they took away parachutes from everybody but specops, which was funny to watch.

.6 is about the only update I've felt I really needed to go through and read the manual (got in trouble with the new MEC uniforms in particular if that was the right version). For everything else I've just read up on the forums while downloading the latest patch.
same here! jumped in at 0.32 iirc...

but at 0.8 i've felt the need to read it and did...

There are some things that you really do need to read the manual for, even if you're a fairly experienced player.

For example, very very few people know that when you're commander, you can talk to individual squads by selecting them and pressing "B", instead of pressing "V" and talking to everyone.
Actually, I think it was also that way in vBF2, so, um, yeah. ;)

I read it, but the true experience came from playing. Learned the quirks, pros, etc of things in PR. But the manual was useful to read before hand and gave me an idea of what to expect when i entered my first game.

I read it before installing the game and I think that the manual is very good. Cover every features of the game, have pictures. At least you know what you are up to in PR by reading the manual.

It avoids new-player-question like : how can I change kits? why can't I take this flag? why can't I choose sniper?....
The best victory is when the opponent surrenders of its own accord before there are any actual hostilities... It is best to win without fighting.

I think I read the first manual that came out, haven't had much to learn from the PR manuals since.

Read it and still skim through it every release but when i first got PR i was unable to play online (curse u EA :mad :) so i spent a year playing PRSP with my brothers and was happy with just that. When i finally was able to play i had a years experance on SP with small squad team work and a whole heap of vids posted by u guys

So the manual an't too helpful these days because we have so many other sources Eg: vids, a whole website, experanced players and clans, etc...

But it whould still stay there just in case ppl don't find any of these sources
