Map & assaulting Faction?

Post by [twl]Lan »

I've searched the *** and the forums - nada on this topic. I may be wrong but maybe that will save the flamers and dragons some fuel for other threads, amazing that one goes defensive when suggesting something...

So, I would like to see some maps where the US/Brits are defending and redfor attacking. We have great maps like Muttrah, Jabal, Seven Gates, Op Barracuda, all insurgent really...where the US or brits are attacking. The only maps where redfor (MEC, China etc) is also attacking is more of a vs map where both sides attack objectives.

Well, aren't we missing out on something here? Offensive action can be taken by any faction or should be possible. I would love to see a insurgent offensive map...Could lead to a new gamemode eventually.

Just tossing the thought out, this is something that has been noticed in the PRT so it's not a new thought. Maybe that some of the upcoming maps have this already but I am not up to speed on them so... :)

I agree, an Insurgency where Insurgents have targets to attack and the BluFor have to defend would be epic, although it could come across as offensive depending on what the targets are.

Avoid targets like government buildings/schools/population areas.

Good targets: Bridges, BluFor bases (equipment targets, not casualties) and checkpoint structures.

I don't think that the intel process for Insurgency work, but there would need to be a way for the BluFor to know what was targeted to set up defenses, but not so much that they are really defensible. And Insurgents would need tickets.

Hmm, yes, (if I recall it correctly) something like that but also on the scale of aircraft carriers launching helos and crafts landing (flag spawning) vehicles.

Insurgent offensives could get real interesting, though I see a wave of people going "Blackhawk Down" on this topic...

I actually like this idea... I mean, I've never played US/Brits as defence... Of course, defend a flag, sure, but not a defensive round you know?

I would love insurgents attacking a camp...
Guys, when a new player comes, just answer his question and go on your merry way, instead of going berserk! It's THAT simple! :D

Sangin will have a gamemode where the Taliban are sieging a British FOB.

Wasn't there a map that was a giant airport?

An airport would be worth defending, yes?

Ideas like defending outposts and important objectives against insurgents has been bounced around alot. Still more flags in insurgency maps like korengal would be real nice.

I'd like to see a US vs. CH map, Vietnam-esque, with the US defending a hill in a jungle.

Counter-attack mode is so underused.

By underused surely you mean not actually in any PR map anymore...

When was the counter-attack mode removed and why?

It sounds like a good idea.

Yes, precisely that. Us and Brits never defend really. Yet why not?

If I recall correctly, it was removed after it failed on Seven Gates and a version of Gulf of Oman...? It wasn't playable in that form, because of the static spawn of the vehicles, but there may have been other reasons I can't recall at the moment.

But I am not talking about counter-attack though it's a good separate topic, main topic is switching the roles of the aggressive faction on the map. It doesn't have to be mainland US invasion, it can be held keypoints. Sangin will apparently hold something like this, a attackable base.

I'd like more, the full assault. Imagine a Jabal style assault featuring the chinese? Or the MEC?

Or a insurgent rising against the US, this is not a unlikely scenario.
