Return ability to fire weapon from vehicles
The ability to fire your weapon should be returned to vehicles such as the open landrover and insurgent motorbike.
Realistically, there's nothing stopping someone from standing up in the back of the landrover with his rifle/M249 braced on the top of the rover.
With a motorbike, I don't see any reason someone wouldn't be able to fire an AK from the back of it.

Iirc they removed the ability to fire from the back of the motorbike because you could do drive by IED attacks...
I think it should be brought back but the accuracy would be decreased alot.

Star, do you see a problem with firing a SRAW from the back of one?Startrekern wrote:The ability to fire your weapon should be returned to vehicles such as the open landrover and insurgent motorbike.

Re: Return ability to fire weapon from vehicles
In thoery, there's no reason why IRL a drive-by IED wouldn't be possible. So my next question is why were they possible in PR? Low rifle accuracy meaning motorbike riders couldn't be shot quickly perhaps?
And a reckon you probably could fire a SRAW from an open jeep or even a motorbike...but you'd have to be holding on...depending on how fast you were going...ahh I guess becuase we can't simulate all that stuff it's simpler to just say 'no weapons'.

Only those pesky physics would make it as effective as not firing at all...Startrekern wrote:With a motorbike, I don't see any reason someone wouldn't be able to fire an AK from the back of it.

Considering no US forces get a bike, no. Considering that with the bike physics present at the moment it would be a more viable option to GET OFF and fire it.[R-CON]ReadMenace wrote:Star, do you see a problem with firing a SRAW from the back of one?

Plus the fact that it is realistic to be able to fire from a vehicle this option should be added, however don't add it to the bikes just for practical reasons.
However throwing molotovs while driving would be awesome...

Re: Return ability to fire weapon from vehicles
I believe the biggest problem is we would be able to use ANY weapon with perfect deviation.(after settle time) So bumping along down a dirt road on the back of a dirt bike, you shouldn't be able to have perfect accuracy with a PKM for example, or an RPG, SRAW, AT4, SAW, etc, etc.
The weapons deviation is not affected by the movement of the vehicle. I'm surprised we haven't see more civie cars turned into gun platforms. But, I guess the high number of 50cals rolling around defeats that tactic tho. It was seen a lot on Muttrah when there was civie cars and forklifts. It's a pretty bad exploit under the right conditions.

Welcome to Project Reality -- You may be unaware that motorbikes were used by the US Faction on several layers of Kashan Desert. You may also be unaware that kits may be picked up by enemy fighters.dtacs wrote:Considering no US forces get a bike, no. Coalition forces with bikes is totally realistic. Ask Brummy

Re: Return ability to fire weapon from vehicles
The reason you can't fire from vehicles is because the weapons you can fire cannot be limited. So you would be able to fire your rifle (realistic), but you would also be able to fire your AT4 (extremely unrealistic). If you look at the insurgent vehicles the ability to fire weapons from them is heavily abused, including drive by IEDing, RPGing, etc.

Its only the air vehicles such as the lynx that require being able to fire from the sides imo, just the outer seats until teh GPMG is implemented.
The rest I can live without due to teh LAT spam etc.

Erm... NO. IEDs take a long time to set up - you can't just throw them down. You have to set fuses make sure everything is connected etc. etc. etc.StuTika wrote:In thoery, there's no reason why IRL a drive-by IED wouldn't be possible.
P.s Mojo there are still Forklifts on Muttrah, but they are just for fun

Re: Return ability to fire weapon from vehicles
There are lots of occasions that firing from a vehicle is realistic. However, we all know that people try to do the most unrealistic things, if the game allows it: drive-by IED's, firing HAT/LAT from a vehicle, etc.

Re: Return ability to fire weapon from vehicles
Since allowing people to fire one kind of weapon from inside a vehicle means that they are able to fire all kinds of weapons (including AA/AT launchers and machineguns), this won't be reversed anytime soon.
Also, re-suggestion. Lock.
