Cellphone jammers
I'm not sure whether or not this is used or even feasible, but don't all the insurgents ingame use cell phones, not remote triggers like BLUFOR, for IED's, not any wire or anything? Since that's the case, shouldn't the BLUFOR faction in insurgency maps have the option of installing cellphone jammers around their forward bases to prevent any IED's from being detonated around the base? I know that's what I would do to prevent any remote explosives blowing me up as I leave my base. Game-wise would it be possible to prevent any IED from detonating within a 100m radius of the jammer, which must be installed within 50m of the FOB?
Also, couldn't engineers also have the option of carrying a portable jammer as well to prevent IED explosion which works short range, and could be used while being a passenger in a transport truck or such?

nah dude, that deployable thing sounds nice, but actually... when you are INS and already waited 10 mins for something to pass your IED ... you want to get a kill.
gamewise it would be a killer for the already way to little played INS faction

if it was ever gona happen i think it sould be like a directional jammer or somthing like you have to keep jamer painted on the celphone user. then atleast then sneaky insegents would have a chance id aculy lik the challange
One shot, One kill, SH*t !! Tank

This sounds like a suggestion from someone who has been blown up so many times he wants to nerf it.
By having this in the game it would totally limit the insurgents.

Yeah I like the FOB jammer, but, for example, a HMMVV with a CE inside of it would be almost indestructiblox...
This was being discussed in another thread, therefore it aint something that came from like nowhere..boilerrat wrote:This sounds like a suggestion from someone who has been blown up so many times he wants to nerf it.

Feel that way if you wish. I proposed only giving it to the engineers because they were the only ones that would bother carrying one, and if they used it they would be unable to man any weapon while in use.boilerrat wrote:This sounds like a suggestion from someone who has been blown up so many times he wants to nerf it.

There are always RPG's, mines and techincals too. I only suggested this because it might be realistic.

Re: Cellphone jammers
Provided that the only method to detonation is cellphones.
After a few jammed, I'm willing to bet that they'd just switch to wired detonation.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.
The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.

Re: Cellphone jammers
by far it was the most random suggestion I've ever seen!!!
Why not suggest atomic bomb button for commander? or Alien attack summoned by squad leaders? Maybe french fries inside the backpack to restore life, no no no, I know what's better, flashing pink neon lights on top of mines!!!
Don't take this as offensive, but seriously, is playing as BLUFOR so hard nowadays to suggest this kind of thing?
Besides being nearly impossible to be made, it will give no improvement to Blufor gameplay and will nerf one of, if not the only, effective tactic INS have against armored targets.

These devices are already in use by the US military and law enforcement such as the FBI here in the States.

As for cellphone jammers are they actually common and used in that way?

Re: Cellphone jammers
insurgency is the best part of project reality but BLUFOR definately needs more technology (cellphone jammers ect. ect. all good and well) but the restrictions on civi killing needs to be increased ESPECIALLY if something like this is put in place
and the cellphone jammers shouldnt effect jihad cars only the sapper cellphone detonated IED's and civi cellphone area attack usage
both sides should remain unequal but still have advantages and disadvantages

Re: Cellphone jammers
This would suck for the players who have waited for a half an hour for a vehicle to show up and then the daemn think doesnt work. And untill somebody can come up whit facts about this kinda stuff existing theres no sense in discussing of this anymore.

yes, such stuff exists and being used, examples are Pelena, Kamish, Tuman series devices, dunno about their equivalents in other armies(something like HEXJAM maybe?), but for sure they do exist too, you can even find videos on yt, where talibs are pushing button and wonder why the thing didnt exploderampo93(FIN) wrote:And untill somebody can come up whit facts about this kinda stuff existing theres no sense in discussing of this anymore.
suggestion is interesting, but imo it cant be realistically portrayed ingame or will require a lot of work, so not worth it
here is BTR with Pelena(box on top)

i think that the insurgents have to much of an advantage over BLUFOR the main thing is the spammy IED's you get because it seems that they have endless amounts of explosives, id on'r think that they do

I know that jamming system are real, but is like the tracking systems, radar, heat vision, satelite feed and all the tech stuff employed, they will screw up all the balance of the game.

Re: Cellphone jammers
well the C.F. use it in afganistan so i guess every one else does, but they just add a wire thats like 200-300m longs as an antenna so point less. IRL Insurgent adapt they're tactics... anyway good idea of course, but i dont think BF2 would support those kind of thing lol!myles wrote:Is there even such thing and i doubt the blufor IRL would be using them
