Excellent, but us. vs russia simulating a war in alaska would be better.
Oil lines as static is suggested.
and 2+ snow maps could be added in future releases

Love this map. The long-distance firefights are what I love the most. My only complaint was that some of the vehicles (Chinese AA, for instance) moved way too slowly and would often drift to the right if left uncontrolled. When you tried to compensate and turn left, the vehicle would almost completely stop.
Overall though, I loved it, and I think more snow maps should be included.

Lol i still havent yet gotten to play this map yet. becuase every time the server loads it up the server crashes =/
so i tryed it offline and its wayyyy to big to play with only 10 people.
a full server would be good.. i like the way when you walk on the snow it sounds slaushy =3

The ingame map is backwards.. Meaning that the high mountains look like valleys on the map. I've asked around in game and everyone else has said the same.

I like the map, just lots of people crashing choppers into tree's and not transporting people in APC's, meaning no transport for anyone, but it was a nice open-ish map

Yeah, you are right actually, I thought the same thing. It would be cool if we could get heightmaps in the future. On maps like this you really need it, and it seems there are more of these big maps with big differences in elevation being made.bls5782 wrote:The ingame map is backwards.. Evidently it is NOT backwards. Rhino corrected me. It is just an optical illusion. It you rotate the map 180° you'll see the perspectvie changes and the mountains look like mountains.
Strange.

thats probably because for us we're used to seeing mountains with the shadows to the north instead of south. remember here in the northern hemisphere the light comes up at us from the south most of the year.bls5782 wrote:Evidently it is NOT backwards. The snow should sound more crisp. I think some of those gravel walking sounds would fit snow better.
When you walk on snow, it isn't usually sloshy watery sound that your steps make, but a quiet snap (as the surface tension is broken) and then a grinding noise as you compress the snow under your steps.

hmmm.... Op snowstorm could have been good with large teams and organized commanders, but I just never had the chance to see it in action. Instead, It was pretty poor for pub matches (basically just all-heli fights with some APC's over-running all ground inf). It's basically just quinling. suggestion would be to add something unique other than just snow but hey, it's done now.

I know what you mean, it's like a crunch as the snow compacts, like curuktBellator wrote:The snow should sound more crisp. I think some of those gravel walking sounds would fit snow better.

The map may be included in a future build / improved if Rhino has the time.
I think its a good experiment to see how custom map packs behave with the PR playerbase, unfortunately it seems its very hard to get players motivated to download and install the custom maps, and get the server admins to install them.
What we may do in future is release a map pack with many maps which might get more popular and more used on the servers.

I've never really been a fan of these 'Go into large expanse of terrain X, fight for utterly useless position Y' maps to be honest. I vastly prefer some sort of central objective, or at least a few statics to break up the monotony.
Some sort of bunker or RADAR emplacement would help, but I think the map is far beyond major changes by this stage.

All this map needs is a bit of love, a few statics and a few objectives. Thats all.

I loved operation snowstorm. i thought it was a great idea..though the snow should of slowed down movement a bit
