Joining problems

Post by VoodooChild »

Hi.

I have tried to install PR for 5 days and nights, and finally ai have done it. :D

BUT now i have other problem.
When i join some punkbuster server, i can play few minutes, but then it disconnects and says "Too many session restarts". So what is problem? If it matters, i have Vista...

Update your punkbuster. First, install it as a system service:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

Then update it:

It has allso saying sometimes like this "memory.dll: all alloc attempts failed for size 1485396"
It begun after i installed PR.

It comes when map changes, while loading objects, if i remember right.

BF2 is a memory hog among 3D games and PR pushes it even further. You can try a few things:
  • Get more RAM. PR can consume pretty much all the memory you throw at it.
  • Drop PR's graphics settings - especially textures - to medium if you had them maxed out earlier.
  • Increase your virtual memory, a.k.a. paging file size. Set its size to twice of your RAM in megabytes. E.g. if you have 2 gigabytes of RAM, set your paging file size to 4096 megabytes.
Paging file size can be set from Control Panel -> System -> Advanced system settings -> Settings... (in "Performance" box) -> Advanced tab -> Change... (in "Virtual memory" box). Remove check marker from "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" checkbox. Then select the drive that holds your current paging file and select "Custom size" radiobutton. Type the number calculated in previous step into both text boxes and press "Set" button to activate your new setting.
