USMCMIDN wrote:well obviously they purchase from aimpoint lol but the sales I am sure are through the US mil however.... I cant find it but I read someplace on aimpoints, Eotechs, and acog sights that they cannot ship outside the US themselves w.o strict permission. Ie if someone from Iran or china wants to buy an aimpoint they will not sell for risk of it being used against the US or allies. it goes for other countries as well.
and if a foreign military asks an optic company from the US it would def have to go through the federal govt to get permission for the sales or the military...thats wat I was getting at with the package deals the US gives equipment to other countries all the time....
Again, no. Aimpoint is a Swedish company. The Norwegian military buys all its Aimpoints from Aimpoint. Both for the AG3 and HK416.
Other sights used on Norwegian rifles are either unit-bought or bought by the soldiers themselves, as far as I know. Never heard of FLO supplying any other optics on a large scale than the Aimpoint and magnifiers.

hmm idk maybe i was thinking eotech or acog my bad
and doing further research it is a shared company with the US and they also have an asian based company.... maybe then if a foreign company tries to order them from the US they are forbidden to sell because the US has a thing about giving weapons and equipment to the enemy (we have a track record) but I guess you could be right all they have to do is order from sweden companies directly. But I know for a fact the US is one of the largest military suppliers for NATO countries and frequently give equipment to other nations. I am sure tho that aimpoint would not sell to Iran or china ya know ? ? ?
That could well be, but, as a company, Aimpoint is at liberty to sell to whoever they want. 'Course, the Yanks may not be best pleased if they sold a bunch to China and Iran.
However, the Norwegian military does not buy and is not given kit from the US military. We're off-topic now, though. Let's get back to discussing MEC scopes, which I'm all for.

last thing they only sell to these countries I just got off the phone with them and they told me to look here for a list, so there is countries they do not sell to, prob the companies choosing and not the US tho
but the US based company cannot sell over seas and the other companies not US based can plz private message me for more info the girl over the phone said she will be emailing me additional info about the international trading laws for the United States.
i really dont see the point in this, just seems more "BLUFOR OWN, OPFOR SUCK" mentality. even if it was realistic, it would destroy gameplay (people already swap to US cause they wanna fight the evil BLUFOR). factions like INS its ok because of the fighting style, but you cant expect MEC/PLA to match up and fight the US/UK on a conventional level with limited scopes.
The MEC is fictional anyway, they've got wiggle room for scopes.

thats what I kinda came to realize after another said this.... I guess what I was getting at was even if they did try an alliance they could't afford it but seeing as they are totally made up and there so there is a balance in gameplay I can see them having the same technology as the UK and US
HellDuke wrote:Sure.. Take them away... (<-sarcasm) The other factions loose them as well? (US Army and USMC etc?) Otherwise wake up from your dreamworld.

Gotcha, sorry for the double post there. I didn't bother reading through all of the replies before I made mine.

Removing various bits of hardware (including scopes) from the Opfor factions has been suggested before.
The OP doesn't seem to know what he's talking very authorititvly about. Niether does he appear to be aware that the PR dev team has numerous, experienced military advisors including persons who have served in the PLA. And don't think those of you who are acting all high and mighty about this fellow's knowlege have escaped my notice either.
This isn't going to happen, there is no debate here.
Locked for sillyness.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
Many thanks to [R-DEV]Adriaan for the sig!
