I completely agree with Hangman. Age has nothing to do with it, it's all about maturity. I've been playing violent videogames since I was 10 or 11, and I've turned out to be a fairly normal human being. 13 year olds playing PR aren't a problem.

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I really don't feel that Pre-Teens should be playing such a game when most have the mentality that they have the ability to anything they would like. One of em jumped in my squad on Muttrah city and spawned with a M16A4 and ACOG combination and he believed that since COD:MW2 is such a mindblowing game, that every game should base its weapons similarly to MW2 and he sure damn thought PR did so. He went rambo and within 5 minutes he was 1-4. He said screw it and started to Tk friendly's and eventually took a LAT and Tk'ed a Huey. Banned. Again, on EJOD Desert another guy joined our squad while we were being pinned at the Gas station. He says that hes going to do Stryker, yet we keep telling him that he must make another squad. He refused, nobody went gunner for him, and He soloed and you know what? The stryker was dead less than 30 seconds out of Main Base. He was Banned.
Now most of the kids that I encountered were quite pre-pubescent and didn't have a hint of voice deepening. When I was around the sort of age, my voice was much deeper, leading me to believe that we have players LESS than 10 years old. As much as I'd hate to say this, I would pay alot to eradicate players of this mentality from this game, although that is almost impossble.
On a much lighter note, I got back to Zombie mod on COD4 the other day, and the last time I was there, It was mostly filled with its Administators and Developers that were well over the age of 15. Well I was climbing up a ladder, and blocked another guy and all I heard next was a "Get the F**** out of the way Tw*t." I replied with a harsh remark against people of his age and half of the team (Of his age) was on my case. I swear, he sounded almost like a toddler.

First off: I don't give a fuck about the ESRB and their ratings. I don't give a care about their "laws". And this thread reminded me of something I wrote a long time ago on Tactical Gamer and I think some people need to read it, some opinions in here disgust me. I once had a well-known top of the line DEV instantly kick me from his squad before I could even talk. This post is my "being a ****" side because this thread just digusts me. It's all about maturity. There are plenty of 18+ year old smacktards out there, and plenty of mature underage gamers. I started playing Operation Flashpoint online when I was 10. I kept my mouth shut at the time, but I was able to develop good online "skills" and learn the "do's and don't's" long before many others my age started playing.

Those with voices that haven't dropped yet can either try speaking deeper or use voice morphing, although then they might just sound ridiculous.
I don't care about the age of a player just how they behave.

i think the first things that a squad lead should say when his squad fills up is,
"whose new?
2nd
"ok so out of those of you who said yes, who likes MW/2"
3rd
"get out"

Well, TBH most of that thread was people just goofing around and making jokes.. some interesting points made earlier on and at the end, I guess.Fighter wrote:First off: I don't give a fuck about the ESRB and their ratings. I have encountered many dumb people in PR over the years, and I can say with certainty that a majority of them have obviously been pre-teens and kids.
However, the younger players are also far more malleable and easy to influence than the older players, and I mean that in a good way.
I once saw this kid in my squad try and take off in a trans Huey before the warm up time, and he succeeded in tipping it sideways and killing a friendly player by accident.
I was about to tell him to "Read the manual!" and kick him from the squad, when I stopped, and tried a different approach.
I jumped into the sideways Huey, pulled back on the throttle, and got it upright again, and then informed the new player about the 30 second warm up time, and suggested he try flying on a training server first.
He thanked me, and decided to do just that.
He was most likeley a little kid, and certainly new to PR or at least helicopter flying in PR, but instead of scolding him, I just taught him a few things and showed him how to improve.
Not a lot of work involved, and hopefully, that will be one more player who will keep playing PR well into the future.
So yes, little kids (and sometimes their voices) can be annoying, but just show them the ropes, have a little extra patience, and they will almost always give you their attention.

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
It's fine by me to play with 12 year olds as long as they don't have an annoying voice and cooperate with the squad.
Just yesterday, I forgot what server it was but, we were MEC squad on Muttrah driving trucks to docks to set up AA.
All of a sudden this one dude joins, he just spawns away from the squad in the city and starts saying on voip with his very annoying voice yelling and repeating "I want supplies at the city, drop some off for me guys".
I bet he was like a 12 year old or something.
Then once he would die he would spawn with us and tell us to take him to the other squads... blah blah blah...
I just hated it, Though I was SL, I decided to leave my squad of idiots since almost none of them even cooperated. I just formed another squad and invited the guys in the previous squad who did cooperate.
I'm 14 been playing PR for over a year now and am enjoying it.
Trying to act as mature as I can be.
I have a friend who says I even sound older than 14 due to my voice.
Anyways, we are about 6 Elements, all 14 and only 3 us are mature, the other 3 are idiots sadly.

I think it's hilarious that people decry the popular choices of videogames as unrealistic and therefore inferior, but if kids want to come play PR it's okay to kick them from your squad if their voice pisses you off. If you believe that, you're a terrible team player. End of story.

1) Age restrictions on games would be heavily enforced
2) Games that are violent would be 16+ accross the board
If I was a father or older brother I would not let my son/brother play games that were either above his age or if I thought he wasn't ready for them.
I don't want to play with 12 year olds etc as I feel inhibited, I cannot chat about mature topics with my mates while I play, I cannot swear etc for fear of exposing these young innocents or being a bad influence on them (as young men are impressionable, and imitate heavily)
However we don't play in a perfect world, thus I'll do my best to teamwork with our younger players, and be as clean as possible![]()
Did you let your kids watch the news ? I myself wake up a lot of days to hear about bombings, people being murdered or killed, terrorist attacks etc.. I fail to see whats so terrible about cartoon violence knowing whats really out there.
Just my 2 cents.

Well it all goes down to the annoying-voice thing in my eyes(and ears?). Most american/british will say all euro's have annoying voices, but I can come up with better examples that beat most euro's! There is some voice pitch changers out there, put em to use and turn up the gain and lower the output, will give you and us a better experience.

I know they can't do anything about their voice-pitch at that age but still it gives me the lol's everytime. (ofc I won't laugh over the voip, just out loud)
Having said that - I have played some good rounds with preteens. They are good to keep me from cursing as well

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I don't think kids should be playing this game. They should rather be on fresh air, playing with their friends and do all the kid's stuff. Especially PR is a very serious game, where you are more involved than in those cartoon-like bang bang Rambo games like MW2 etc. I think this can influence them negatively.
Parents should be looking after this.
And, after all, there's a huge difference between seeing the result of violence and experiencing or producing the (virtual) violence yourself.

I don't know about the TV- Landscape in US, but here the gory images are not shown in the news.Did you let your kids watch the news ? Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I myself is 12 actually
But I get treated like a 16 year old.
When I started playing PR 0.8 I always got kicked and people were cursing at me but I realized that I was being a noob and I didn't do teamwork. Then I started to play teamwork and being as mature as possible, people started to not kick me. So my point is that there are 12 year olds out there that are total noobs, most of them have just started playing PR and haven't read the manual. So like someone on this thread said, give them a chance and give the 12 year olds like me a chance of being in a squad and possibly being SL or CO.

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I agree that 12 year olds shouldn´t play PR even if they know how to take orders or behave. PR is a military simulation and even Battle Field 2 is rated R, so it is not meant for People under 16. Also i prefer like to play with mature gamers who know what to do and maybe have military experience in real life as i have.
Its just wrong that kids play these kinds of games, because they can´t but also shouldn´t compare it to the real life and the real cruels of war, which isn´t shown in detail in the games (mostly, they are of course exceptions). But also the youth has changed in the past years and is more mature in younger ages, than we were (i guess). I don´t think that this is good because they lose their childhood just earlier.
Hm, didn´t want to start a discussion about childhood and the influence of media
To sum up: Players at PR should be at least 16 better 18 and should know how to behave and take orders and have a sense for tactics and teamwork.
Are you serious? I mean the Airport level was heavy and i had a bad feeling all along by just walking through the massacre. Never felt so strange in any other game.
