Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I remember running a section attack range for cadets a few years back. They had whistles and everything. Sounded like a bunch of pissed off referees at a football match.
Having coached a fire team on giving support fire, the civvi cadet instructor woman was so anal I nearly slapped her one myself. We just wanted to let them play. Not allowed to fire unless prone.....not allowed to move unless made safe, not allowed to run over rough ground. I'm so glad my old cadet years were different.

I'm fine with any age, as long as you behave, and I'm not one to complain about annoying voices

As for 12 year olds, im fine with the good ones. but they are like snipers, 95% of them arnt worth the time of day, and ive has so many bad experiences with them i kinda hate them all for it.

in UK you have cadets (12 years old) that are running around with real guns and real ammo?

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
True, but then again sometimes a crash course works. Had one back with vanilla BF2 (though I was playing SP for awhile before), and now I'm fine. Just so long as they don't learn what things like mashtuur(you know the rest) are all about, things usually work out fine (they get over the swearing and such). Though I do agree with the bold in the above.'[R-CON wrote:Rudd;1218789']In my perfect world
1) Age restrictions on games would be heavily enforced
2) Games that are violent would be 16+ accross the board
If I was a father or older brother I would not let my son/brother play games that were either above his age or if I thought he wasn't ready for them.
I don't want to play with 12 year olds etc as I feel inhibited, I cannot chat about mature topics with my mates while I play, I cannot swear etc for fear of exposing these young innocents or being a bad influence on them (as young men are impressionable, and imitate heavily)
However we don't play in a perfect world, thus I'll do my best to teamwork with our younger players, and be as clean as possible![]()

The TG thread didn't disgust me, this one does. Rudd you are insane. Basically half of you want to ban 16 and below players from playing a 90% game/10% simulation because of a view that doesn't hold up to everyone. Trust me, I've heard and participated in worst conversations at school than I've ever heard on PR, so do you want to ban kids from going to school too? You were all 12/13/14 at once, so stop talking down to us and get over yourselves.

I just want you younger lads to have the best upbringing possible, and I did say at the start that I'll do my best to play with the younger lads.
putting young players in to perspective
you know your best friend who has a really young brother? (everyone has one) you wanna go have fun with ur mate but little johnney has to imitate his older brother in everything and can be a real drag.
thats basically how it is ingame
there is a difference between 12-15 year olds talking amongst themselves and a 16+ telling children about things that he shouldn'tTrust me, I've heard and participated in worst conversations at school than I've ever heard on PR, so do you want to ban kids from going to school too?

I still just don't see the point of banning 14/15/16 and under from playing PR. Like I said the ESRB can go f*ck itself. Nobody gives a care about the ESRB ratings, not even parents. Hell I have MW2, MW, ArmA, ArmA2, all of which are rated M and my parents are quite aware of that. and FYI BF2 is rated T for Teen(meaning 13 and up)

Also we were told to only fire when prone by the Safety Sergeant Major... then when we said we couldn't see the enemy Colour said "Then Stand up you dumb f***"
But the weapons are done in a fairly controlled environment, and Cadets are usually too scared of the instructors to piss about with live/blank rounds, and the Average age for a 1* Cadet (One who uses weapons quite often) is more 15-17.

actually in the UK its 16+ I have the box next to me
remember Fighter, this is just my opinion, as you probably know from first hand experience, I don't kick people from my squad for being too young, I only kick if they are dickheads of any age.

If everyone had that mentality, then it would simply be "those 13 year olds can go F$@^ themselves, they aren't playing on our servers"Fighter wrote:I still just don't see the point of banning 14/15/16 and under from playing PR. Simply being against a view point without proper reason to back it up is silly and ignorant.
We had a problem with that in the US last year. "Why aren't you voting for Obama?" "Because he's a muslim"
See what I mean? Not really a valid point.

I started playing seriously when i was 11-12 years old, when i used to play the good old BF42 mod Desert Combat and i often had the highest score in the servers, all i wanted was a serious playing and have fun in a tactical gaming style. I'd often beat much older people. I'm 18 now.

Scoring in plain unorganized BF is a joke compared to PR.Paladin Necroman wrote:I started playing seriously when i was 11-12 years old, when i used to play the good old BF42 mod Desert Combat and i often had the highest score in the servers, all i wanted was a serious playing and have fun in a tactical gaming style. 'sides, a good teamplayer in PR really doesn't care about his score.

Re: DEBATE: What do you think about 12 year olds playing PR?
I do think it is more about case of maturity than age, there is a limit though. Going to use fighter as a good example for this, his voice is the typical american 13 year old stereotype, but i've seen him commanding people much older than him over mumble like he was their boss.
But i do think alot of kids are just too immature, i was squad leading once and some 13 year old or something joined, he was last in squad so when a mate of mine came to join it was just unfortunate for him that he was the one i chosen to kick. But he would not leave me alone on mumble, he was trying to call admin on me (funny enough i was an admin on the server at the time) and just insulting me because i wanted to make room for my mate.
So you have two examples of how kids can act. Though i do think parents are just stupid half the time, was in Game(Game shop), little kid couldnt be no more than 10 years old, his mum was buying MW2 for him. Why would you buy your child an 18Game when they are 10! They can barely swear yet alone participate in the mass killing of civilians in an airport.

While it may be the parent's direct responsibility, remember, it takes a village to raise a child.

WOW this retarded thread is still going or is this a new one?
Really people, we should base our kicks and bans on ****** bags and not on the 10 year old with a bigger score than you

The only time we handle and fire real steel is on a range in strict conditions, blanks on the other hand....HunterMed wrote:okay so just to understand that correctly:

as a NCO i had the LSW (as the younger lot couldn't physically carry it) and was teaching 13 year olds how to clear a building, and when we entered the room we would fire at targets we had placed. 13 year olds, clearing and firing (blanks) at targets.

Yea I'm going to pull out of this thread now. The UK and USA ratings must be different, Rudd. Walmart.com: Battlefield 2: Complete Collection (PC-DVD): Games
Anyway I'm biased so I have nothing more to contribute.
