Ok, how about a PT 76?
It would have a good Anti apc cannon without ultra protection. Plus it would be logic that such unit would be stationed in Mutrah, since the city has a giant access on water.(TANK is amphifbious)
mat552 wrote:Or we could stop adding it in every other map on many rotations and let 24/7 muttrah servers fall from the player counts.
The community is gorging itself on this map, and this map is like a very good pizza. Pizza's all well and good, even if you have it once a week. But if you eat it every night for 6 months, you'll be so sick of it that you'll never want to eat it again. (Apologies to Chef Rhino)
na I agree with you and its one of the reasons why I'm not going to be updating it for v0.9

Also, we need to make sure that all weapons in the game cannot kill in one hit. Even when admins slay players for being stupid.
lol

oh ye sure let me just go to the bog a sec and **** one out for ya
Well that won't be necesary sir. There is a 3D model for it allready, its even for the BF2 engine: THAT MUST BE NEW! - Black Sand Studios
All that's left to be done is that some polite member of the Dev team ask for it, code it properly for PR and Voila! PT-76 for Mutrah.
A clay render is no where near finished and you will need to find out if its realistic for MEC to use it as well, they might be a fictional army but that dose not mean we can give them any weapon we like.
After the round I played yesterday on Muttrah I think not an tank but even tank squad can't do any help to MEC if you are playing with a bunch of tourist soldiers who likes to watch US carrier on the shore instead of fighting.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw our team is on sight walking on West and North city while enemy already taken East City with an wired, protected FOB middle of it. No one cared. It took us almost 30 min. to destroy that FOB and take back the flag. (On our own) I don't understand people.. What would you possibly do in front flags while enemy already got back flag and flanking you to death. For the first 45 min. our APCs even can't pass half of the map because of ATs.
While the tank may actually be alot of fun, it would make heli drops extremely difficult as it can fire a very fast projectile accurately over a long distance at short notice and would shoot down most choppers before its taken out.
Also the relatively small size of the map would mean it would be almost impossible to find any safe drop zone as the tank could take out choppers anywhere within its sight range.
Alex6714 wrote:Just the standard mec tatcic of building as many fobs as possible at the docks behind enemy lines to camp the carrier.
well... I have news: Its not working anymore!

I agree on the accuracy of the tank. They are deadly against air drops. But Muttrah is a tight city map unless u dedicate your tank to hunt down helis it would be difficult to target through buildings on a short call.
Muttrah is perfect atm assuming reasonable players are on.
I had a 3.5 hour round last night on RT with excellent mumble teamwork.
The MEC have four APC's US only two that spawn miles away on the carrier. The repair station is so far away( at least the US have one) that a damaged LAV is very very lucky to make it back.
1. If US SL's/Spotters can laze succesfully (not easy on Muttrah with all the inf. action going on) the helis own, thank god (Rhino) for all the cover available . If the SL is good (as last night) he can be constantly calling CAS to clear the inf allowing the squad to advance and destroy FOBs.
2. MEC seldom man the AA's as its dull, they should be permanantly manned till the Cobra and maybe the attack huey is down.
3. US inf. are very quick to moan when the attack helis are down but rarely prioritize FOB's with AA's as targets.
4. Never seen the one US logy truck doing any repair stations work (would be good to have if cruising around dropping crates and repairs all the time - in safe areas ofc). IMHO APC squad would benefit from a HAT/LAT in the truck as their repair and fall back point.
5. Chopper pilots suicidal attacks in AA defended areas (refuse to go until AA is knocked out).
6. On public servers many times the US don't even deploy a FOB at docks (they will lose).
This map is so good when it is well played with CAS and APC support provided, it is also great as a big inf skirmish map, the problems come when there is no CO or non existant inter squad communications.
Shit guys before asking for more toys play Muttrah with all the tools available to PR (Mumble, CO's, TS and vent) then see!
Ok, well the Iraq guys used the PT-76. Plus, as I said before, the PT-76 is a logic choice for the defense/reserve force on Mutrah. The city is near an ocean and the PT-76 is amphibious. Also it would be useless for such tank to be deployed somewhere else. Its 76.2mm gun is uterly useless against most armor, sometimes even APC's.

Well, you are right. If the BTR-60 are deployed correctly they will destroy the LAV-25's and Cobra/Hydra. If the BTR squad is a bunch of drunk ragheads, as it sometimes is, well not even a division of T-72 would be enough to defend Mutrah. Now I doubt that those alluminium cardboard tanks are going to be such a potent enemy that MEC would need to deploy heavier assets. Plus, with the introduction of such armor on the US side, it will motivate MEC to change the tactics, being more willing to deploy mines, C4, HAT's and LAT's.
But to make sure, can someone gimme the armor specification on that alluminium cadrboard tanks with the 50 cal and 40mm grenade launcher.Sorry,i can't rememeber its name.
If you have a great TEAM, you can win the round with sticks and stones. If you don't - even sharks with laser beams attached to their freaking heads will not help you.
Handle every stressful situation like a dog.If you can't eat it or hump it. Piss on it and walk away

****, then unless MEC gets a good strategy against the enemy armor, the BTR60's are going to have a hard time on Mutrah. But I doubt that the situation is going to be much worse than it is, especilly as the 40mm grenades aren't that potent agains armor.
