BF2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

When I play PR, I will sometimes randomly get a BF2.exe error. Sometimes I can play an entire round, sometimes two. Sometimes it won't even get past the loading page and other times crashes half way through. I don't understand this as surely it uses the pr.exe?
I hope you can help as I don't understand this at all. I have reinstalled BF2 and PR in the past. Thanks in advance.

The pr.exe, runs the bf2.exe, so if there are any problems with BF2 then you will still get them.

That makes sense I suppose, but In Battlefield 2 I don't crash like this... Could someone explain what could be a possible fix for this? It's starting to annoy me. At the moment I think i should be blaming my several year old IDE 80gb hard disk. It is worrying me sometimes when it can freeze for about 5 seconds in PR and make loud clicking noises...
