[how to...]Adding Steam-friends support in PR

Post by =Romagnolo= »

Attention, this is only for the Battlefield 2 BOX VERSION owners. If you have problens with the BF2 Steam version, go to the tech support forum: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... ost1158450

With the last special sale in Steam, many friends bought Battlefield 2 and many of them started playing Project Reality too. That is great, the problem is that they keep using the steam-friends network to keep chating with me, so I have to "alt+tab" the game many times to answear them and return to the game (wich, sometimes, doesnt happen).

So, I found a way to start PR by the Steam software without any problems (until now at least), so I could use the Steam-friends too.

If you want to do the same, just follow the numbers bellow:

This image shows me in game with the Steam-friends. Follow the link to take a look, I can't post here because it exceds the forum limits.

I played hours this afternoon and I didn't have a single problem. In fact it, it helped alot to chat with friends to find the server I was.

I think that any problems between BF2 and Steam was solved after BF2 was released in that game network.

Steam Target: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"

Steam Start In: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\"

You have the Steam BF2 right ? This is only for the bf2 box owners. If you have problems with the BF2 steam version to run PR, follow this link: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f26-pr ... ost1158450

Thanks for the tip but no it's the original retail box version. :? ??:

edit: I have Windows Vista 32 bit, and run pr.exe in Admin mode, Steam and PB are current.

When I tried in the past, I would get PB kicked for running an unallowed overlay or something. Hopefully they fixed that since it's on Steam now.

As long as your PB and Steam are both updated, you shouldn't have any problems. I've been running PR out of steam for some time now, it's loads better than xfire for me.
Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

The only winning move is not to play. Insurgency, that is.
