In game chat doesnt work

So after buying BF2 over steam, i heard about the PR mod, i downloaded it and it worked fine, in game chat and all, about half way through my 4th game it was around 5 am and my game crashed, thought o well and just went to bed, the next day i tried to play again and i got that exe. error that everyone got who had steam, so i told my techy brother and asked him if he could wipe my computer clean of everything and just have steam and BF2 and PR, he does it all and finds the fix for the exe. error, i get into my 1st game after waiting for 2 days, and to my dismay.... i cant recieve or send in in game chat through my mic, the actual game i can hear everything, guns and all, so i went to my settings and saw, o, the recieve and sending are just at 0% and its disabled ill enable and set it all to 100%, i hit apply, go back to the game... still nothing, i go back, and it seems that it was all set back to 0% and disabled again... i reset it all back to 100% and enabled, made sure to apply settings, hit esc to go back in game... and still nothing at all

thought it wouldnt affect gameplay, i was wrong, i would see my squad all look one way and do all these things and not be able to follow,

So if anyone has any ideas what is going on id really be thankful

my "techy" brother has no clue...


Edit, I have the same problem for BF2
