This worked for me last time a got that PR error out of the blue.

Run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files

Still no joy?

Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
Good luck

AeroChen wrote:Alright Guys. I got solution!!!!! I'm also using win7 and everything works now. Just replace bf2.exe in your steamapp/common folder with the exe I attached. Good luck on that

PS. Remember, if u ever check the intergrity of game cache file, steam will automatically overite ur solution bf2.exe with original steam nogood one. So, keep a copy of bf2.exe (the one I gave u) just in case.

EDIT: Problem solved :o

I used to use the autohotkey way, and used to be able to play PR for long periods of time but kept getting kicked on some servers as described (md5) but when i use this bf2 file instead of the steam one i can load the game, even throught the pr shortcut but later just crash to desktop when i try to load map, both on pr and vbf2. When i use steam it revalidates the file and i can play vbf2 again, no probs whatsoever..

So right now i just revalidated the file and keep using the autohotkey way, without the ability to play on some servers because i get kicked by punkbuster, whats interesting is that the bf2 file keeps getting corrupted in some way so i have to keep revalidating it thru steam, this only started happening since ive been using the autohotkey script, its seems like its as a result of somekind of mismatch with pr, steam and the script..

And rarely when changing maps i keep dropping out it seems out of lack of memory? But thats not so much of a problem really, its more the kicks and the lack of proper support of steam..

I have Q6700 @ 2.66, 4gig ddr 3 ram, nvidia 8800 ultra, win 7 ( i am running in admin etc.. :) )

Hi,

I just finished downloading BF2 via Steam. The main reason I finally bought the game is your mod ;)
Now I made it run with this autohotkey stuff. Just when I thought, well I think I get this game a bit, I was kicked py PB for the same reason. Well those Chinese soldiers I ambushed in that second will be happy about it but if this happens on many servers it would spoil the game :(

Is there any additional information about this .exe file as some say it works and the one above me says everything crashes. Is the normal version of BF2 still playable via Steam with this .exe ?

Thanks in advance. Hope to get this great mod running.

Okay, I tried the .exe and it worked so far as I didnt get kicked. But as the previous user wrote the game just closed without a message on mapchange.

I hope that you can solve this matter somehow, maybe with a patch or hotfix for your mod.

Thanks.

This .exe worked for me also on win xp sp3

replacing the steam version of bf2.exe

no problems with the random kick on map screen as mentioned.

altho I never had the md5 kick problem as I didn't try the hotkey for this issue, got the you must launch via pr.exe error that comes with steam, read the hotkey fix in which someone links to this as an easier fix, and decided to just replace the exe to save hassle.

I had same problem, I did alot to fix but nothing worked and the only thing that fixed it was if you unstall bf2, just remove everything then reinstall and patch and it will be good from then on

yes

but that also applies to when you simply try to play online with a fresh install xD (pb is known to be ... not 100% perfect)

usually you will get a 3 Minute Ban from the server only

if you are getting on the PB MBL its not just the BF2 account (where you can simply create a new one with a different email address) its the BF2 cd-key (hashed I believe)
