sorry all i could get is a link but i kno nuthin bout comps ,so can anyone look at the link for me and tell me iv it will run it on medium or higher settings.
thanks in advance,
other than the computer specs i think alienware rips people off.... just putting parts together and calling it alien ware with shiny lights and colorful case..
with that much money i can make you a better computer or you could save alot of money and spend that money on games
The base stats on that model, that is without any "optional" upgrades, doesn't look bad. But for almost $1800 USD, that is a little higher than I would pay. But then again, I build computers myself, so for someone not knowing how to do the same that might not be a bad price.
Few things to mention though:
1) That PC uses a micro ATX board, meaning you will have limited expansion slots. Don't expect to have much room for extra cards such as SLI, video capture, sound, wi-fi, etc.
2) The base system only comes with 2GB RAM, yet it's loaded with Windows 7. You'll want to upgrade to 3-4GB right off the bat, which will in turn boost the initial price. Check other vendors for RAM prices, chances are Dell will charge you 150% normal fees.
3) The stats mention liquid cooling as a standard, but you should inspect the fans just to make sure when it arrives. If the fans are too small or not too powerful, swap em for something bigger and better. Their base cooling systems usually won't handle the temps from extreme gaming and extended use.
4) Basically, anything that you plan to add above the core included features you should check prices at other vendors first. If Dell has a better price, buy it from Dell. Chances are though you'll see it cheaper elsewhere. If it's an item that requires installation above your own skill/knowledge level, ask a friend to help.
thanks but im not just planning to use it as a full on gaming comp coz i will probally need for my coursework and the rest ov my school stuff.
thanks for the help i will look elsewhere iv i cant find better for under £1500 then i will have to buy this,
hopefully i can get one soon so i can go to the PR frontline, ( coz i cant fly ), see you on the battlefield
Pretty much the price isn't that bad, considering you don't know enough about computers to build one yourself. You could probably purchase the components that have equal specs for a few hundred less, but then you'd need to pay someone to put it all together and install all the software. In the end, you'd end up spending the same amount. So you might as well just make it easy and buy it ready to run.
But as I mentioned, you should look into how much RAM costs from a local vendor. RAM is very simple to install even if you barely know how to use a toaster oven. If you can turn on the PC, I'm sure you can install RAM chips. And I wouldn't be surprised if a local vendor had them much cheaper.
As long as you don't plan on doing any serious upgrades in the future, then the micro mobo should be fine. On-board audio isn't bad nowadays, and that alone will save you a PCI slot. You might not need additional cooling fans either if you aren't upgrading it with major components. And the 850w power supply should be plenty for your intended use.
Thanks for the advice ninja2dan, hopefully it doesnt take me long to get this comp i have been tryin to get PR to run on my family comp but i just cant, also wat is the new version thats out rite now ov PR called? Thanks again
USMC
The reason my name is USMC RULE!!!!!!! and i live in UK, its because i like the USMC and i think they are just awesome.
Currently 0.874
Soon, date unknown probablly before the end of febuary at the latest 0.9, if you can hold on till 0.9 it would let you have an unpatched DL.
Check out somewhere like cyberpowersystems, one of their comparable 'off the shelf systems' is going to work out cheaper. (I have just had a good buying experience with them)
Comparable system for under £1000 with a better gfx card. (although it's not going to be as compact or have all the flashing lights etc)
IMPORTANT NOTE, if you only want a PC to run gaming and do school/college work then i7 is perhaps
a bit over the top. you could consider going for an i5 system (save you another £100-£150)
which is going to run PR and ARMA 2 on very high!
