Commanders in future updates
I have been looking around and haven't found a discussion on this so I thought I should ask.
What can we expect on Commanders in future updates because as of right now commanders are USELESS. Don't get me wrong, commanders are HELPFUL and they provide a big improvement to game play but at the same rate they are something they should not be, which is optional. I command at least once a day and after getting used to it, you realize one of two things, how little people rely on a commanders help and how limited a commanders help is.
OK so UAV was added every 10 or so minutes you can fly a UAV but the UAV has no position on the map, nor does the map correctly follow the UAV so you have to pretty much memorize the map to tell where you are over watching. There is no thermal, infrared or zoom so from the height that the UAV fly's, it's not even much of assistance. A thing I also suggest is making commander UAVs into attack UAV with some type of missile or gun system, if possible.
I'm sure there are more things that can be done to improve the Commanders role in-game. Of course another big issue with Commander is the squad leaders who do not listen to commands or keep commanders up-to date on activity, but you can't control that of course.

Re: Commanders in future updates
I'll go from the top:
Yes at the moment commanding is unfortunately a bit useless.
There has been over 10^9 suggestions for an attack UAV.
If you think there is alot of things that could be improved for the commander, by all means instead of complaining about it NOT happening in a thread, go to the suggestions section and make a thread about it there, but be sure to check that it hasn't been said before or you'll look like a tool.

Re: Commanders in future updates
Alright look here, I was asking a QUESTION, I also notice that the commander threads are OUTDATED. Don't pull that complaining bs on me sir because I could give a F less to complain, I just enjoy the game and want to know what are some of the improvements being worked on at this current time. I may have made some suggestions along with it but this is not a suggestion thread.dtacs wrote:I'll go from the top:

I must disagree and say the CO is a very usefull part in any team as long as the squads listen.
you dont need to flame anyone if they disagree whit you, you'll just get the thread locked and yourelf warned.

Where is the disagreement or the flame, there was no disagreement, just somebody who did take in what I wrote completely to thought because if he had, he'd know that this was a question for the DEV's not a complaint.rampo93(FIN) wrote:I must disagree and say the CO is a very usefull part in any team as long as the squads listen.

Edit : User was warned for "Insulting Other Member(s) - Flaming". You might want to check your own writing before accusing people of ill intent.
Now back to answering his question people

Re: Commanders in future updates
I'm going to have to agree with the OP here.
People always respond to threads about the deficiencies of the commander with hostility, saying that "he's useful if people cooperate" or "if squad leaders listen", but the fact is that this doesn't happen all too often in the game. Sure, maybe on Mumble servers, or TG, or in the PRT, but otherwise, it's pretty rare to see squad leaders working with the commander. Maybe one or two of them will, but not in any meaningful way and not in a way that will actually help the team achieve victory.
I used to play commander quite frequently, and I was excited about the UAV (which I still think is an excellent asset) but eventually it becomes boring to stare at the battle map for an hour and a half and have everyone ignore you when you ask them for a Sit rep or try to give them useful information.
When you command and people work with you, it's a lotta fun; and you can definitely beat a team just as good as yours if you have a good commander and cooperation between the squads.
But as it is, the role of commander is just boring. There's a reason why you so rarely see a commander on your average public server. Don't be in denial, guys.

Just saying you're appearing quite agressive in you're post. Also you're obviously posting a suggestion there though this is the general discussion thread, not the suggestion one.

No offence Rampo, but its quite clear in the first post that he is asking what kinds of things will be added to make the commandder in future updates, not things that could improve it.

and I guess I didn't say that. Sorry if you want to keep this argument going but I surely do not intend to, my question still stands.I may have made some suggestions along with it but this is not a suggestion thread.
I both agree and disagree based on today's situation with communication.but one of them having a commander, makes the team with communication win

I think the commander is ok as it is, need some tweaking here and there, but honestly it depends on who you are commanding more than anything.

On any of the Following Maps: Muttrah, Barracuda, Kashan, Snow Storm, Qinling, Karbala, Operation Archer, and Jabal Al Burj a team with a good commander who can Co-Ordinate his team will win. Unless the other team has a commander.SSG Jay wrote: right now commanders are USELESS. .
In all honesty it's a lack of decent commanders out there rather than a lack of decent Squad Leaders. Most Squad Leaders will listen to a good CO, one who is able to make communication between squads easier than just using Team Chat, e.g. giving Heli Squads markers on exact enemy/friendly positions for CAS/Extract.
There's also a lack of people who want to relax by their computer having a nice cuppa tea
