Windows 7 Resources?

Post by FuzzySquirrel »

So, I've been thinking about getting Win 7, but I see no point in getting it if it eats my ram. So for people using it is it closer to XP or Vista? (FPS Wise)

I installed Win 7 (32bit) on a shuttle the other day with only 2GB RAM. At idle it utilized around 500MB of memory.

If you're not upgrading to a 64bit OS, I would stick with XP. In my opinion, if it's not broken, don't fix it.

Unless you like tinkering with stuff to the point of driving your spouse insain. Just one of the perks

I was thinking about going 64 bit, so would it be worth it then?

If you can go 64bit, go 64bit. Then your main objective would be to get 2GB more ram.

One of the reasons to upgrade to Win7 is for all the nice little perks, like the sidebar, Aero and the cool little icons. Unless you're running 4GB RAM I would take Fighters advice and stick with XP.
