No Parachutes!

Post by DaShiznit »

I was wishing that they'd do this with BFV, but apparently not. I think, unless you're ejecting from a plane, you should not have a parachute. This way, teams are forced to land in helicopters, as opposed to bailing out over the target, which brings me to another idea. Ropes. Spesifically, ropes that can be dropped from choppers and soldiers can repel down. Just a thought.

Yea thats a good idea. Maybe a special class could have them and the rest not.

That's the idea. If you're a pilot, you'll get a parachute, and under some special circumstances if you're an infantryman you'll get one. Don't worry, we're going to make it as realistic as possible. Therefore, nobody's going to be bailing out 2 feet above the ground and living, and helicopter pilots won't have parachutes.

Airborne and Special Operations Forces Soldiers will also have parachutes. But this wil only occur on maps where they are inserted by parachute.

Where C-130 drops occur, those who drop out of the C-130 will be equipped with parachutes

Another thing I'm going to talk about with Req is the addition of the 82nd Airborne Regiment.

I like this idea of restricting the parachutes to certain people in certain situations. I think I was one of the few people that actually landed the helicopters at certain points when playing Desert Combat, I guess it was half to do with me showing off by landing the choppers on pointed roofs :D .

haha, very true. We are working on a concept for this whole parachute thing.. it will be nothing like BF42 though... realism must be :)

this is already in bf.2, if you step in a plane you will automaticly get the parachute otherwise you dont have a parachute

Problem, you step in plane, BF2 lets you keep your AK. Some smart *** mite just get in and then out of a plane every round so he gets a parachute. So maybe with some smart coding when you get in a plane you get a para, a pistol, and flare, ->insert pilot item here<-.

Also, for the airborn concept, once you occupy the back seat of the C130, with the same coding, youd get a airborn kit. M16, a few nades, and a sidearm + your parachute. But if you go to the pilot seat you get a pilot kit again.

Hopefully there will be normal parachutes for speedy descents and the larger canopy ones for HALO jumps and manuevering.
