combined afghan-Blueforce operations?
One of the things that has traditionally irritated me about the BF2 engine is it's inabillity to simulate combat involving multiple factions or groups. While PR faithfully simulates US/UK combat in insurgency mode, it fails to account for the fact that A crucial part of the counterinsurgency combat is being fought by Blueforce-trained Afghan units. Why not have a map or two featuring Blueforce Afghan infantry w/AKM's (assault mg, etc) etc being led by american officers? IMO It would be much closer to real life.
Not only that, but why not have a few maps featuring combat among northern-alliance and taliban force during the invasion of 2001. Tora bora is a battle just asking for PR treatment!

Re: combined afghan-Blueforce operations?
It is hard to recreate the realism of the Afghan/Iraqi situations.
IRL the quality and equipment of blufor is many times better, and ofc the quality of the trops and training is superior.
The ANA are far from elite, they swap sides, call their taliban mates and get stoned relatively often.
They have no fear of death
In game the players are on average of equal skill, without programming more frequent jams or dud rounds what can be done to show the equipment differences?
For the stoned behavoir what do you suggest, impaired reactions or blurred vision?
I am not suggesting this for PR just my comments.
Oh dear double post......

Sir! You have just discovered that the majority of PR players is infact ANA soldiers logging in on their laptops during RnR. Dont tell FOX news or theyll organize a boycott of computer games!PLODDITHANLEY wrote:It is hard to recreate the realism of the Afghan/Iraqi situations.

I believe that the Dutch forces will feature an ANA soldier class that you can pick, along with Dutch characters.
If you can read this the ***** fell off.

That's only true for some (Yeah Ok most) ANA Units, some are quite well trained and do everything properly - it all depends on their Afghan Company Commander.PLODDITHANLEY wrote: The ANA are far from elite, they swap sides, call their taliban mates and get stoned relatively often.

On the other hand, they speak the language and know the culture - things that are more important than combat training or equipment in counter-insurgency.PLODDITHANLEY wrote: The ANA are far from elite, they swap sides, call their taliban mates and get stoned relatively often.
But it's true- it would be hard to recreate in PR. Just don't like when people bash the ANA; they are the most resource that NATO has in Afghanistan and should be treated as such.

Shame, but is it possible to code one kit speaking Farsi but the rest speaking english/dutch and so forth?
That would have been an awesome addition.

Sadly not, one side can only have one voice set.dtacs wrote:Shame, but is it possible to code one kit speaking Farsi but the rest speaking english/dutch and so forth?

Additionally, I'm going to have to remind you folks about our policy on sourcing. If you're going to make "factual" statements please do back them up or don't make them at all.
The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Cool Rudd, where the ANA have to be shouted at to do anything, sounds like a Wicca job that, and in a firefight they teamswitch.

Here is a crasy thought. What about the commanders voice? Thats different from the rest of the team.. Couldnt it be coded so that some kit(s) from a team use the commanders voices? And then of course exchance his with a new Farsi, Urdu or whatever voice.[R-MOD]Bob_Marley wrote:Sadly not, one side can only have one voice set.

I think the commanders voice is coded to the commander position rather than the Kit.Gosu-Rizzle wrote:Here is a crasy thought. What about the commanders voice? Wait, but in the vBF2 expansion pack that had the European Union forces, (can't remember the name) the EU team had like five different European languages that the soldiers spoke, like the anti-tank was Spanish, the Sniper German, and so on.[R-MOD]Bob_Marley wrote:Sadly not, one side can only have one voice set.
Would that not work in PR?
