BTR 60 was created by R-DEV Drav and it was simply the BTR 60 because that was the first model to be finished from the BTR series... the BTR 60 will be replaced on some, Not all maps by the BTR 80

Yeah, but in PR you have to think slightly in the future, like 5 years, maximal.

That is not correct. PR has no official timeline, and does not take place either in the past or in the future. As an example the planned map "Sangin" is meant to represent an engagement that took place in 2006. When planning the assets for your faction you need to study what the relevant RL forces have now, not what may be planned for the future. This is the reason you never see equipment featured on future weapons in PR.

As for getting your faction officially recognised, that is quite a long process. You'll need to build real momentum and get a strong team of reasonable size behind it, and you'll need to showcase real progress in developing the basics of the faction before you begin work on any heavy assets. The best place to start imo would be soldier kits and geometries etc. Start with the basics and work from there.

In addition you could PM the Community Faction Manager, [R-DEV]Afterdune. That being said you must also understand firstly that the PR team as a whole are currently working flat out on 0.9 (meaning new factions take a back seat) and that BLUFOR factions in general are currently not being approved due to the need for more OPFOR factions.


As for the BTR-60, Max is correct. The model for the BTR-60 was created by [R-DEV]Drav and is currently used as a placeholder for other BTR variants until they are completed. This does not mean that the BTR-60 will be removed completely, but it will be replaced on some maps. The APC removed from Muttrah was the BTR-90. It was a vanilla BF2 model and was removed as all vanilla models are being gradually phased out, and the BTR-90 in RL is not used in any significant numbers by any countries' armed forces, due in part to the considerable cost of the vehicle.

Ah, so that's the deal. Very well. I already PM'd AfterDune, but got no response, I gone in a way most people come with proposals. Guess we have to work more now.

Well, i think that every faction has a chance. IMO we don't need anymore factions until we get the ones started finished. If you want to help out, join a faction team and work on them. Once they're released then try and get your faction in.

Alright...to set shit straight.

As the currently sole member of this team (yes there is no team anymore), this "thing" isnt moving anywhere for the moment being and I doubt it will in the near future (lets put it this way...aint reviving this unless half a dozen guys decide to help out all of the sudden). Maybe once the wip comfac bodycount falls drastically and theres somewhat "less busy" working force. By luck at least a good chunk of equipment will already be in-game thanks to other comfacs.

Also I dont know whats up with your streak of reviving threads in community modding so it kinda makes me doubtful if anyone will even care if I made a statement about this..."thing" as I dare not to call it a comfac. However if you wish to discuss it further (well I wont mind any suggestions) feel free to do so.

On a more serious note,I think if either Serbian or Croatian faction would start with a progress,
that best option would be making some generic looking light Balkan militia as a opponent,since it would
be easier to make than other conventional faction.Also,it would be lot more interesting seeing Croatian
(or Serbian) forces fighting in Balkan theater of war,albeit not that realistic,than another faction fighting
on desert maps,which would be more realistic since Croatia is NATO member.
And PR devs,can you update forums,so people from Serbia can put Serbia as a their location,
Yugoslavia doesn't exists for some time now.

No I meant Balkan militia that would fight in modern time.
That would be flexible faction and would be excuse for either modern Croatian or Serbian faction
to fight on maps in Balkans.Faction that can represent anything,like Serb separatists on Croatian maps,
Sandzak separatists on maps where they would fight Serbian faction etc.
They would use mix of old Yugo weapons combined with both some new and old Eastern and Western ones.
Zastava M76 DMR,M53 MG(MG42),Stg44,Tommy Gun,MP5,Zastava M56 SMG etc...
