People do suppress sniper rifles. It is still lethal.
Still lethal, but kills off some range on it.

And military snipers may also use the crack of their rifles for intimidation. If you were on a patrol and heard that, had no idea where it came from, and your buddy in front of you just dropped over and knew you might be next at any second, wouldn't that noise scare the hell out of you?

Either way, snipers are still a useful terror weapon. Go pick up the book Marine Sniper sometime. It's about Carlos Hathcock in Vietnam...Damn good book, and lets you in on some of the stuff that went down. He held a whole company down so long out of terror that they would be picked off to the point that they became serverely dehydrated and were shitting all over themselves. When they tried to run, one would get shot, the others would turn back. Held them there for a number of days before finally calling in a fire-for-effect HE artillery strike, destroying the entire valley.

This is also why they have reduced loads or subsonic ammunition for handgun and rifle ammunition, however there are some trade offs with this... reduced velocities, range is going to be less than the normal expectations but with a suppressor as well you can achieve some good dB reduction.

I don't remember if OFP had name tags...i think there was an option to turn them on and off...

Haven't played the game much...but just re installed it...and i have to say that after playing 3-4 months AA...no game has overcome OFP realism in aiming and moving...no more strafing and jumping ****...
