Booby Trap IED

Post by JohnnyTheIED »

Simple, like a grenade trap, but the wire detonates IED.

I think its much needed for building trapping and desertic roads.

Booby traps are not powerful enough, hence why it hasn't been much used since Vietnam. Now you see IED traps.

EDIT: P.S: Maybe you could put a 2-3 second fuse on it, like a little crackle and fuse going off, letting a few lucky in the back a chance to run a few meters.

That's because I think you don't play much insurgent.

Any experienced insurgent will tell you booby traps on the road are good but definitely not powerful enough.

And I think it would be realistic. Talibans often rig IED traps in houses and fields.

As the matter of fact i love playing ins as a sapper.

and grenade traps on roads are useless, ever considered AT mines? because something whit a wire is allmost impossible to hide in the middle of the road

lol you talk to me like im a noob, Ever considered the mine and ied are already used successfully yet booby traps left in inventory are placed tactically on tight roads to slow down or dissuade nme?

Ever used traps to cover an ied?

I kill about all tanks on maps all the time. Most of the time I have to resort to motorbike ninja to get behind the tank and trap them ied + mine.

Most the time it takes forever for the mine to activate, ied is too weak.

I don't think its very realistic. A one shot kill or better logistics is needed.

What I mean by that is we either need a EFP, better RPG's or RPG warheads, even scoped rpg would do.

Or we need better logistics, like more arsenal in the IED department, more subterfuge.

Im not calling you a noob, if you understood it that way im sorry but im just telling of my own experience. Also theres the matter of how much a soldier can realistically cary? If he allready has the mine, the IED and the nades whit the trap rigs.

And about IED being weak i have no clue where you're getting that idea... iv'e destroyed more than one APC and killed lotsa squads whit them, just wait for them to get close enough...

So you want to have 3+ explosives that are large enough to kill a vehicle and you want grenade traps (anti infantry) to be changed to anti-vehicle because you don't find them useful?

How about reloading your mine? It does exactly what you want (trip itself, kill a vehicle). You want to use improvised explosives quickly per your tank example instead of taking the time to set one per real life. The mine takes time for a reason, because in real life people don't run up to tanks and crawl under them to plant mines while they are active.

No, what is unrealistic is your desire to have additional anti-vehicle explosives carried by a single infantry man in an assault instead of setting a trap for the vehicle to come into, like real life.

You are using the kit wrong, even if you are getting kills.

We've talked about more powerful insurgent explosives up and down the road, and inside out. This is really beating a dead horse.
