Fix slope gradient climb friction
The slope climbing need fixing. On many maps climbing a slope is very frustrating and sometimes even the slightest climb is impossible. Good exampels of this problem is Korengal Valley and the riverside in the south on Karbala.
Sunset City has perfect climbing setting, with which means that you can climb slopes easily. All maps should have that.

Re: Fix slope gradient climb friction
It is not so easy to climb slopes of approx 40-60% gradient IRL as in PR. It is easier than vertical but you cant walk up, you have to actually climp it, meaning using your hands etc. In PR it is either running up or it is too steep to pass att all.
It would be cool if we implemented a new climbing mode that means you move forward really slow and you cant use your gun to simulate using your hands to grab on to rocks etc. Of cours this is not for vertical slopes but for those really steep slopes we run up for now. This would also open up new ambush tactics where it would be cool to ambush a squad climbing up the slopes.

It can be very frustrating but you just have to find another way up. Korengal Valley is designed so you can jump up all the small slopes on the hills.
Fixing the problem would mean a total overhaul of the maps.

Actually, it is quite easy to climb a 45* slope. In PR it can be impossible.TheLean wrote:It is not so easy to climb slopes of approx 40-60% gradient IRL as in PR. I would guess that "fixing the problem" would consist in changing a number in a configuration file. The US really need some advantage on Korengal.GoreZiad wrote:It can be very frustrating but you just have to find another way up. It would say that's it would be very much possible to crawl up there. In game it's almost impossible. You have to spam the jump key and wish for the best.killonsight95 wrote:that look more like 60-70* degrees

You can already crawl up steeper slopes than you run/walk up in PR. (probably the same in vBF2)TheLean wrote:It would be cool if we implemented a new climbing mode that means you move forward really slow and you cant use your gun to simulate using your hands to grab on to rocks etc. Of cours this is not for vertical slopes but for those really steep slopes we run up for now. Find a slope that you can't quite walk/run up, then go prone and try again, you may be pleasantly surprised.

1. Walk directly to one direction, do not run or turn AT ALL.
2. Crawl, you can go higher slopes in prone than walking.
3. Make jumps at the last second before the moving speed starts to go down.
4. Crouch never works.

I never have problems on korengal personally, and it forces you to use easier paths anyway, which is good and realistic.
just have a rifleman specialist with you and you can go anywhere

Cant say I agree with you on this one, Ropes only grab structures and rocks, the dont grab terrain.[R-CON]Rudd wrote: just have a rifleman specialist with you and you can go anywhere

No, a rifleman specialist just makes you crowd around a rope you can't grab onto for a few minutes until a Taliban guy with a grenade puts you all out of your misery.[R-CON]Rudd wrote:just have a rifleman specialist with you and you can go anywhere

Rofl, looks like some one's had a bad experience with either a bad squad/bad specialistHerbiie wrote:No, a rifleman specialist just makes you crowd around a rope you can't grab onto for a few minutes until a Taliban guy with a grenade puts you all out of your misery.
Yah, when you've got someone who knows how to use it, and with a little bit of luck you can climb almost anywhere.

That is not 45 degrees and no, you would not be able to climb that in real life with gear.manligheten wrote:Actually, it is quite easy to climb a 45* slope. In PR it can be impossible.

Yeah, I was wondering how that pic was supposed to be 45 degrees, because it's not. However, I do think it would be climable with the amount of gear a PR soldier has on. It's probably soft dirt, meaning there would be a lot of slipping and sliding, but doesn't seem impossible.
I think that mappers are much more aware of the limitations of climbing, korengal valley is a good example of terrain designed to help people climb the hills, and it works very well, assuming you understand how to do it. Jumping, sprinting and crawling are all very useful.

You can actually climb up that spot, there is a little patch where you can jump on and then run up... takes some time though...lol

The soldiers have heavy gears, yes, but not that heavy. They can still sprint and climb ladders.BloodBane611 wrote:Yeah, I was wondering how that pic was supposed to be 45 degrees, because it's not. But let say it's rock instead. You wouldn't be able to climb it anyways in PR.

no, it has to hit a static object, such as buildings, trees, towers, but if you know what you know what you're doing, and with a little bit of luck, you can hit static rocks on otherwise impossible top reach areas.manligheten wrote: The hook can only be used if it's thrown up an edge.
