[W7] BSOD during start up

Post by MonkeySoldier »

Hi all,

My brother recently asked me to install W7 on his Acer laptop, which had Windows Vista installed. So I made a back-up of everything, and went to work. I burned an ISO to a DVD (read: Both the ISO and the key are legal, I was able to get them via college) and went installing. Everything went well during installation, and at some point the notebook shut itself down. So I restarted it, and it loaded in the Windows files, and displayed the Windows logo. However, after that I get a BSOD saying a fatal error has occured. Barely any info is being displayed (three sentences or so, saying it's a fatal system error and such) and it just stays there. So I got no idea what to do now, and google didn't want to be my friend.

Basically, I can't get into windows at all, since I don't even make it to the log-on screen.

Thank you in advance,

Monkey.

Have you tried putting the disk in and running a repair on the windows installation?

Yes, but it doesn't give me the option to do so. :S It only loads in Windows files after I put in a CD.
