Question Regarding the ACOG
What's the FOV of the ACOG in PR in degrees?
I've heard that the FOV of the ACOG in reality is quite large. Big FOV, clear glass, nice reticle, and durable. Trijicon says that the TA-31RCO-A4CP has a FOV of 7 degrees.

What? I am not acronym literate.
Edit: FOV = field of view.

FOV: Field of View. How much you see in the scope.

FOV: Field of View (how much you can see in front and peripherally)
About the question, I can't really say for sure since I'm no gun expert, but I know that allowing peripheral vision, as in seeing to the side out of the corner of your eye, is not possible in any video or computer game.
So any sight that has you completeley zoom in is going to be kind of small and unrealistic.

Well, I'm not quite sure that the amount of view you can see in the scope is completely realistic.Sidewinder Zulu wrote:ACOG: Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight

Feels a bit like I'm looking through a TA33 rather then a TA31.
Edit: Hehe.

Re: Question Regarding the ACOG
About 13° in 1280x1024. You can measure it using the compass on the screen.
EDIT: The magnification on the ACOG is roughly 4.9x ingame. With 4x zoom the FOV would be even larger.

Re: Question Regarding the ACOG
Well could the FOV of the ACOG be set at 7 degrees and a zoom of 4x, perchance?[R-CON]nedlands1 wrote:About 13° in 1280x1024. You can measure it using the compass on the screen.

Re: Question Regarding the ACOG
Where're you getting 4.9x from Neddy? Does it vary depending on resolution?

Being a Marine and with a weapon issued to me that does have an ACOG of the same model represented in the game i can tell you that it has a much high field of view.

In theory BAC makes your FOV massive.storm1217 wrote:Being a Marine and with a weapon issued to me that does have an ACOG of the same model represented in the game i can tell you that it has a much high field of view.
Anyhow, since BAC can't be implemented a nice FOV while scoped in is fine.

Re: Question Regarding the ACOG
Has the ACOG been fixed to be a 3D sight like the red dot? Instead of the weird sniper style view? I HATE the ACOG in game because of this. Makes it unusable to me.

Re: Question Regarding the ACOG
it is a scope, there fore it's use is pretty much the same as any scope, one eye closed, thus why it should be kept the way it is now. the reason a red dot is made using the 3d sight is because it has no magnification making it usable with both eyes open. thus making it the way it is now gives the user more situational awareness'[PR wrote:AC3421;1236980']Has the ACOG been fixed to be a 3D sight like the red dot? Re: Question Regarding the ACOG
yeah but it should not go black all around the view. You dont make a friggin vacuum with your eye against the scope. It should go blurred around the sides like the Red Dot sight.
I feel disconnected when shooting with the Acog in game. But I love the feeling of the red dot sight in game. And its the opposite in reality, lol.
edit: also the Acog can be used with both eyes open. They have a lot of different models with different eye relief stats and some are better for both eyes open.
edit: oh Hunt3r got to it before me, lol.

The ACOG supports using both eyes open shooting.Bringerof_D wrote:it is a scope, there fore it's use is pretty much the same as any scope, one eye closed, thus why it should be kept the way it is now. the reason a red dot is made using the 3d sight is because it has no magnification making it usable with both eyes open. thus making it the way it is now gives the user more situational awareness

Hence the "roughly". It's just an average value of all three resolutions.[R-DEV]Jaymz wrote:Where're you getting 4.9x from Neddy? Does it vary depending on resolution?

Well, no, I didn't exactly mean that.dtacs wrote:

Try holding your hand up so that it's parallel to your ear, and then look staright ahead.
You can see that your hand is there, but just barely, and if you were wearing a ring or something you probably wouldn't be able to see that in detail.
Since games can only be projected onto an object that's a foot or few across, the ability to see things out of the corner of your eye is impossible, and always will be.
Then again, if someone designed a TV or computer screen that had a 180-360 degree envelopment of your head, the peripheral vision concept here could work.
And that is possible, hopefully in the near future.
Anyway,
