Now it's not me having the problem
But a friend of mine who is trying the game out for the first time is having some problems
Now at this point i think I'm just going to USB all my PR files except my profile files and etc and give it to him but here's his problem
When ever he connects to a server playing a insurgency map, it loads him in. but it takes massive amounts of time, prolly his PC i dunno and i don't have his specs but he plays BF2 on high so there's a start
So it loads up then he ether gets randomly gets these error or crashes :
CTD
Communication Error ( Note: He spawns in and can accept squad invites but he leaves so quick that he doesn't receive Voip )
MD5 ( Note: get maybe 12-ish % or 60-ish %
and Punkbuster
The server we where trying to get him in was Hardcore Insurgency ( =]H[= clan )
He also tried UK insurgency.
Note he got anything from 23 ping to 61 ping so it's not connection
Since hardcore has 2 servers running on the same box we loaded into the regularly empty AAS server currently names Hardcore Gamers ( Note: as of yet only at 7 pm fills up til a crash )
And worked.
It's not the server because there running em off the same box and after he fixed all the connection problems etc with BF2 ( Note: By that i mean he shouldn't get anymore of the problems with connecting. All the Vista Issues are resolved )
So can any one help me out help him out?
He can't come on the forum, if he did he wouldn't know what to do anyways.
I can find out more about the specifications of the problem but I'd like to c the options.

Re: Insurgency GameMode CTD
In game textures set to 'HIGH' (Vista)
Set the textures to medium.
I'm not sure why this makes a difference with high-end cards that can run games like Crysis
on high quality settings with no problem at the same res,
but for some reason it can matter with Vista running Project Reality.
When looking for answers please follow these simple steps.
#1 : Read the red stickys First.
New PR problems are rare so most answers can be found here.
#2. Use the search feature on PRs web site or GOOGLE IT!. Often the quickest way to find what your looking for when you have an error message.
#3. You have spent some time trying to help yourself, but your ready to ask for help:
Please remember to include your basic PC info in your post :
Operating system = XP, Vista etc.
systems specks = cpu/speed, ram installed, video card/video ram on card
network setup = cable, 4 port 10/100/1000 d- link gamers lounge/ wired connection.
And a brief history before and after problem started.
Please describe when your CTD or problem hits and
what you have already tried.
The more info you can give the better your chance of getting a quick answer back. You don't have to write a book, but your basic PC info is needed to help you.
Good luck

I had already done most of the steps in all the stickys to fix all the random problems that occur.'[R-COM wrote:thepalerider;1240614']In game textures set to 'HIGH' (Vista)

But here is the bottom line :
Insurgency doesn't work.
He reinstall the game and the mod from scratch.
The problems cannot be because of the individual MD5 and punkbuster problems
1. because we did all the trouble shoot for them
2. He can play AAS
I know what specs are BTW, it's because He ( My friend ) isn't that technically appt. I could find out what the specs are but as far as i can see it as to be a problem in the files.
Turning down the textures does help the load time, but the reasons for it being slow is a simple hardware question witch is irrelavent to the problem.
why?
Because he can Run bf2.
He can use applications.
etc etc
If it where a problem with the:
Hardware, the problem would be more fatal to the PC and wouldn't only effect a game.
MD5, AAS wouldn't load in.
Specifications, He was able to load in kashan, i'm pretty sure Karbala and fallujah are less hardware intensive.
Sorry for sounding as if i know it all but i have tried the solutions in the stickys and i did google it.
I run on common sense and i have made sur the individual problems for punkbuster related and MD5 related are solved and i followed the Vista users guid to installing PR.
the problem is now connection lost or CTD. I don't know how else to describe a CTD other then it CTDed. It crashed while sending client info. I'm going to have him re download the PR Core and levels from seperate links instead of one to make sure it's not the link's files.

Re: Insurgency GameMode CTD
Connection errors can be caused by Punkbuster B stopping. Next tine he gets a PB kick, have him tab-out of game and check services:
Check Punkbuster B is set to auto re-start.
Good luck
Check Punkbuster B is set to auto re-start.
Every once in a while I'll get a 'heartbeat stopped or connection lost PB kick. When I check services sure enough Punkbuster B isn't set to auto restart. I manually set it to auto restart and don't have any other kicks for the rest of the night...Usually.=HOG=Romeo_One_Three wrote:Open your Control Panel. Go to Administrative Services. Click on Services while PR is running. Select Punkbuster B, right click, select properties, select the recovery tab and make sure they all say "Restart the service" for all three dropdowns. You can do the same for PB A, but generally speaking, it's the B client that stops responding. Any time you update PB, you may need to re-do this step.
Good luck

Update:
It works some times
The problem is exactly this as of now :
He loads in then
it tells him he's lost connection to the server.
Is it a file problem?

Re: Insurgency GameMode CTD
Have him set the pb_sleep500 trick/workaround :
Have him type this line into his BF2 console (default ~) when he joins a server:
pb_sleep 500
More information about pb_sleep command found here: Punkbuster BF2 Information
This can give Punkbuster B the time in needs to restart (hopefully)
