Movable train and objective.

Post by Paladin Necroman »

I am really found of an idea of creating a movable train to move an entire army throug a map.

or/and something like an objective, similar to "capture the flag", but instead, you capture a train and move it to somewhere...

These would be real realistic, either a moving train that you can use as a vehicle for troops or a objective-based vehicle.

I'm sure you modders could find a way to manage that, wich would be really inovative, since all trains we see in BF2 vanilla and pr are just dumb stactics... that just looks a waste of gameplay, even more for a realistic game as PR. I like the idea of having diferent kinds of objective, not only the conventional territory-invasion like. I miss the "capture the flag" objective in BF42 and BF:V

Any given vehicle cannot have more than eight seats. That is one of BF2 engine's limitations.

Maybe there could be a way. If you could make vagons connected to each others to work as one vehicle. Each vagon would be a separate vehicle, but conected to each other.

Or due to that, make only a train with one vagon.
I'm sure there's a way. I just figured out one just now and i don't know any programming lol

i do seem to remember somthing about having movable statics which could follow a set path but i'm not sure about the details of it.

Now that you said that you bring me vague memory on it.

We should bring that up again, i think it's brilliant and very innovative. There are tons of applications to that idea. One of them is to make it an escort or something like that objective, wich wouldnt require assets to be taken, and you could just jump on it and it'd move slowly, or have it just one asset for the conductor, and make it to be escorted it to an opposite side of the map while the enemy trys to stop it or kills all the escort team tickets or something. There is plenty that could be probably applied to the game engine.

we created a driveable maglev type train for Offworld:Fall of Mars mod for bf2...its pretty easy...just make a driving vehicle (in this case a train) and a track for it to drive on which has some collisions to keep the train on the track.. it worked fine for us..

the track

Here's how it would work:

1) idiot squad takes the entire train over to the other side of the map
2) idiot squad is killed
3) train is useless

OR

1) spawn-point on train creates entirely unrealistic scenario where INF fight using train as an armoured spearhead

your choice of fail. I'd stay away, personally

OR

1) Implement system for tons of civilian cars
2) Set 'track' for the inside of insurgent map's city.
3) ????

sounds cool and i think there is a way to get more then 8 epople in a vehicl e i remember in one of the mods for BF2 you could physically hop into the vehicles interior and just stay there. They also had it in the game Joint ops Typhoon rising. SO i am pretty sure it is possible.

Insurgency could be a lot more fun if they had a train.

I am thinking of a mission where US has to stop the train (or insurgents) while the opposing team has to keep it going like in gold rush in TF

you could make a game mode called "clame the train, its visible to all empty, and the team that holds it has it like a flag. as you own it, the other teams tickets would bleed, vould have tanks and stuff to shoot out the driver and steal the train.. track gose in a big circle arround the map and possibly some avalible crosses into the middle XD

or you have to get the VIP across the map and to make it more fair there is a lot of carts that you can go in to hide and i would suggest to have the roof open. VIP has to stay in the train

Maybe have some tracks that can be manipulated and moved to change a trains direction?

A possible way to create the train is having only ONE seat for the driver, and having the train move slowly enough that everyone can just stand on it's cars without being knocked off.

movable spawn point? make it so the train only requires a driver, and put spawn point on one or 2 of it's carts depending on whichever team capped it last

Why there must be seats , infantry can stand in the vagons while the train is moving just like in FH2's glider!

Well our clan map has a train, if you press E in a specific point it starts moving across the map, and then back again... and you can stay on it without problems

Why would an army need to secure a train?

I'm sorry if we made this, we'd also need Winchester rifles, horses and indians.
