Try running battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files
Still no joy?
Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache
Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.
Still screwed?
The problem could be BF2 is trying to load a resolution that your monitor or video card doesn't support. In my case it was my new widescreen LCD.
That "something" is actually 3 files in the "C:\Documents and Settings\[Your User Name]\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles" directory. In that Profiles directory are 3 folders called 0001, 0002, and Default. Inside each of those 3 folders is a file called Video.con. You need to open each of those 3 Video.con files and search for the line that says "VideoSettings.setResolution 1600x1200@60Hz". Change all 3 files to a resolution & refresh rate that you know the monitor and video card support, and BF2 should work like a champ again.
Good luck

I'm sure it was the video.con file. Thanks for the help. It was my bro crack_ho's pc he brought over and tried to hook to my wifes 22" monitor. Her pc was having PB problems, but the console fix of: pb_sleep fixed it. His was a 24" at home so I am sure that was the deal.
Thanks again, and I'll pass this info along if I ever seen anyone with the same problem.
