Your views on what makes PR the mod to play
I was just wondering what the community thought about PR and the reasons why its there MOD of choice. As with any game you always have your followers and people who you could call die hard fans, but with a game that has an engine that is opsolete and games left right and centre comming out that have better graphics better gameplay (debatable flsh point 2= fail lol) why we have not only die hard fans of the game but new players comming to the community all the time.
So I though I would start by pointing out my reasons why I think the game is so successful:
-The generaly freindly community that play this game
-The maturaty that the people who play the game show
-The style of game play that is diffrent to pretty much every game out there no running and gunin it sort of RTS,SIMULATION AND FPS IMO
-The realism of the game, however its not at the point were the game becomes frustrating with one shot one kills die start over IMO it has the right balkance between realistic and arcade style game play
-The multi tude of roles with in the game you can be a pilot, commander, squad leader etc so many I dnt want to bore you lol
I could go on forever with this so you get the idea, so what are your likes about the game also a MOD also will have problems with it so what are your dislikes, hope people will reply constructivly and I look forwrd to your replys.

thats why, because no game can touch PRs gameplay of teamwork. Teamwork is fun for me, thus this is the most fun game for me.dominator200 wrote:.......better gameplay........

Well, saving an APC's *** by sniping the hat on the roof, even tho the apc crew unaware of what happens there. That is the teamwork, it doesnt have to be direct everytime

Its the most professional mod I've seen to date. I wish there were more mods out there with a quality like PR's.

Excuse me? Whats this talk about games with better gameplay? There isn't any game that offers what PR offers, simple as that. PR has true teamwork not just word "teamwork" in the ad or back of the box, you HAVE to work with others to succeed, not so many games out there with that.
I play PR coz its the only game/mod that offers awesome military combat that makes sense.

I like big maps with a lot of players which was one of the reasons I got BF2 in the first place. But BF2 gameplay didn't come even close to the original GR which is the game that redefined FPS for me.
PR offers everything I enjoy in TAC-FPS. Gameplay, teamwork, scale and the fun. No matter what server you join, you'll always find that in PR. Except for rare exceptions, but those are heavily outnumbered by all the good times I had playing this mod.

1) Perfect balance between realism and fun.
2) Teamwork (+ just communication with clanmates).
3) Clear differences between different weapons when using.

and in answer to the question, its not the only game i play but its definatly the best mod i know and i'd like to thank to dedicated mods for that, bring on 0.9!

Ive played alot of games, and PR has the most teamwork in any game ive played. thats what makes it different, and thats what makes it "the mod to play" if you like that style.

Most other shooters out there, from "next-gen blockbusters" like Crysis or MW2 to supposedly team-based FPS's like Natural Selection are really just about reaction times and being able to pull off headshots when turning around a corner. In other words, a spinal cord is all that is necessary to be good at them - higher brain function is basically superfluous. You can be uber1337 at these games simply by downloading an aimbot.
PR, on the other hand, has little to do with reaction times. An aimbot in PR will hardly do you any good. Playing it requires that higher brain function - you could say it's a "thinking man's game." Instead of reaction times, winning in PR is about having patience, leadership, and teamwork abilities...
Long story short there's no comparison between PR and any other tactical shooter out there. You could compare it to something like MW2, but even in this case the similarities are only superficial - at it's core, PR is unlike any other game out there (closest I can think of is maybe ArmA?)
Edit: Also I think it's worth noting that PR is the only game in existence to have an insurgency mode, as far as I know. Unique & endlessly entertaining form of gameplay, IMO.

- balance between realism and playability
- no to very few bugs (in comparison to new games)
- teamwork happens often and works easily
- variety of gameplay types and maps
- seeing all branches working together (infantry, transport, air support, tank support etc etc)

Great factor is the tight knit community, the other part is the challenge of gameplay. Also, the fact that it is constantly updating with new and improved features. That really makes a big difference.

The community.
PR is one of those mods where I know I'll find some good, friendly and serious players to enjoy the game with.
Also, the maps (even if they're getting repetitive lately, which makes 0.9 more needed than ever for me), and the generally realistic gameplay of course.
