Easy Question about Project Reality

Hiya

New to the forums and Project Reality.

I have played a few mods before, like AIX etc, so I understand that downloads etc are required.

Anyway, my clan is thinking of getting a server up and running on Project Reality.

So, I was looking at the main page of this site, and it mentions version 0.90. I know this hasn't been released yet, as all are on 0.87.

So, an easy question which I'm sure all will know: If we get version 0.87 (server and client files), when 0.90 comes out do we all have to re-install or will it be like BF2, as in a patch?

Its no biggie either way, as I'm sure we can easily get a fresh download.

Thinking we can still use bf2cc to keep on top of the Admin side, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'll see if I can find a thread for server setup when we're good to go.

btw, the new maps look great. Haven't seen 0.87 yet, but will do very soon.

There will be a Patch - but v0.9 will be out soon so you might as well wait till then and download it all in one go.

I thought 0.9 was only going to be a full install as it's pretty big?

It will be a full install the changes are so massive that a patch will just have a high risk of mess things up.

Thanks guys, I'll let the clan know. We'll wait till the new one comes out, and start nice and fresh

It will be a full installer for clients, and the server files will be just a new folder.

You will need to apply for a server license here and then you will gain access to a private SA forum which is full of helpful threads etc to ease the set up.

Note that there will be 2 parts - Core and Levels (Maps). You'll need them both installed to play PR.

Also make sure you do Core first, then Levels.

Am I right in thinking we can do this now, or should we wait till after the 0.9 version is out? We currently have AIX running on the server at the moment, but can easily swap to PR when needed.

I'll have a word with the clan leader, as I'm an Admin but not sure if I can be the Main Admin, so he may have to apply.

*edit* Just saw the second page. We currently have a sponsered server, based in Sweden. The cable company pay for the upkeep, we can host what we want on it. It worked well when we had BF2, Crysis and AIX, so I think PR should be okay.

Not to confuse you, but PR will be on its own server, we currently just have Crysis/AIX running, so can remove AIX

I know that I'm so motivated on PR, that whether v0.9 is a patch or full install, I'm still getting it. I'm pretty sure everyone is on the same page as me on that issue.
